Sandra, Otto and dog Spec are fantastic hosts. Le Source is s totally unique place to stay, it's like something out of a fairy tale. It is also a real treat to eat all the produce of the garden every morning: fresh walnut bread, eggs, figs and preserves. Do not stay without also having a meal (or more) at Sandra's table, she is a fantastic cook. As the listing says, a hidden gem!
This really was such a lucky find! We booked La Source from my phone in the car setting off on our journey! It was described as a hidden gem and the property did not disappoint. Sandra's home and the guest accommodation are all located around a small courtyard carefully planted with shrubbery and set out on 3 levels giving everybody privacy. Our outside eating area was a terrace under a large pergola covered in wisteria (sadly finished but still beautiful). The land all around the property is wooded with shady paths leading to the Source in one direction and the pool in another. A paradise to be explored with wildlife all around. The accommodation itself was magnificent. A four poster bed in a stone walled room draped with tapestries. We felt like we'd stepped back in time! A fabulous three days. We would definitely recommend Sandra's property and Sandra as a warm and welcoming host. Thank you Family Howells Cardiff
Of all the places we've stayed in 3 weeks of travel in France, Sandra's is the only one we've been disappointed in & would not recommend. When we reserved, the listing said entire home & photo of home exterior still show her home, not the overgrown cottage of bedrooms & bath. iPad unable to receive wifi unless outside & parking a good distance from cottage although a drive way was nearby. Breakfast not typical of others in France. 559 euros for 4 nites grossly overpriced. Sorry to be negative, but we left after 2 nites.
Le Source is a very special place. The grounds and garden are the stuff of fairy tales. Much prettier than the pictures if you can believe it. Its decoration stays true to its history and surroundings and Sandra's impeccable personal style. Every direction you look appears to be a painting. The dinner she offers is recommended. My family of five devoured the meal made with care from regional products. This is a place to rest, reconnect with your loved ones and with the heart of France.
This was undoubtedly the best airbnb I've ever stayed in. Sandra's place was a quiet paradise nested amongst fruit trees and wild flowers. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place for you. We sat in the garden for hours just drinking wine and listening to the birds chirping. The photos don't do justice to the beauty of this place, you have to see it for yourself! Sandra was the most wonderful and accomodating host as well. She prepared a delicious breakfast every morning and I'd definitely recommend you opt in for the dinner option as Sandra is a fantastic chef. We had a three course meal made from local ingredients which tops anything else we've eaten on our trip. Sandra has a happy little dog that also brought some nice energy to the place too. For things to do there's a peaceful walking path down to a beautiful chateau nearby and it's only a 5 minute drive to the Montignac village centre. I can't recommend La Source any higher as a place to enjoy rural Southern France!
Hi I'm Sandra, I am a chef and professional ice cream maker, I can tell you all about french cookery and ice-cream/sorbet making. I love food, obviously, and travel. I'm from Holland, but I live in France with my son who is crazy about manga and anime, and, luckily for me, food a…
