This is a classic Kiwi bach. Warm, comfortable, well equipped, in a unique setting on the lake reserve. Huge space for parking vehicles and boats or playing games like cricket. You will enjoy its proximity to the lake, mountains, walks (like the Tongariro Crossing), ski fields, hot pools, cycle tracks and more. A great place for visiting anglers to stay. A fishing and boating paradise. Closest house to the beach and boat ramp. A place to relax with only trees and grass between you and the lake.

The space
Our place is ideal for a family group, a travelling couple or couples, a group of fishing friends or outdoor enthusiasts. The house with 4 bedrooms and a variety of bed configurations has ample space, with 9 beds. There is excellent parking for boats and cars. Undercover parking for the winter frosts and a good fire to warm you up. The location right by the lake and rivers gives it a special advantage. You are on the spot. It is on the lake reserve boundary with immediate access to a boat ramp and local bay with excellent summer swimming. It is a quiet retreat for boaties, outdoors enthusiasts or just those looking to get away from it all. The house is very comfortable with a new kitchen installed, water pump and electrical upgrades done to provide every facility.

Where you’ll be

Tauranga Taupo, Waikato, New Zealand

The bach is located on the edge of a small lakeshore settlement. It has lake reserve and bush boundaries. It is surrounded by reserve, lake, beach and the area has its own local boat ramp. Taupo's second largest river, the Tauranga-Taupo, is on your doorstep. It is renowned for its fishing and Taupo's largest river, the world famous Tongariro, is just seven minutes drive away. On the way you pass two other excellent fishing streams, the Waimarino and the Waiotaka. The lake by the bach has extensive fishing shallows and drop offs, providing outstanding fishing. And a little further afield lie other lakes and rivers nestled in mountain valleys offering scenic vistas of an unbelievable quality. In short, it is a special spot, especially for those who love the outdoors. There are local walks which will be described in information provided, hot pools and a thermal area nearby and a little further afield, but within easy reach are walks in national parks and reserves (like The Tongariro Crossing), the Kaimanawa Ranges accessed up Kiko Road very close to the bach, river walks and excellent cycleways and trails like those up the Tongariro River and there are many tourist attractions in the townships of Taupo and Turangi. The magnificent Tongariro National Park and the Chateau are close at hand.

My wife and I have finished our careers as educators. We now have more time to spend on our own pursuits. I have a strong interest in trout fishing which is excellent in our district and that is how I spend much of my spare time. I like the outdoors environment which is outstanding around Taupo. I spend quite a bit of time doing home and grounds maintenance. My wife likes the arts and music and is fully involved with family in NZ and overseas and looking after our Airbnb guests and properties. We take great care to present our properties well and know how important it is to look after the needs of our guests well, especially as they are often far from home and appreciate quality service, excellent security and good facilities. The very same things we do when we travel to places like beautiful Prague, shown in our profile picture. We have had family living in the USA and Portugal and enjoyed travelling there when we could. We have adapted to the changing travel scene and still try to provide an excellent hosting experience to all our guests.
