Welcome to our Hobbit house - located wall to wall with nature. This beautiful hut made of wood and embellished with twigs inside is the perfect refuge from everyday life for couples or little families.
The hut sleeps up to six persons but we are happy to rent it to couples as well.
Enjoy the rain outside, grab a good book or watch the sheep nearby while you warm up on the fire!

The space
This uniquely built cabin sleeps up to six people in two bedrooms. The bedroom downstairs has a double bed and a single bed. Upstairs you can find a loft bedroom which is ideal for a couple and a small adult or child.
The cabin offers you a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, an oven, a toaster, a kettle, a microwave and basic equipment like a variety of cutlery, cutting boards, pans/sauce pans, cups, plates etc.
In the living room area you can find a wood burning stove which warms you up. There is also a table for dining and sofas.
The bathroom offers all basic facilities - a shower and sink with warm water and a toilet.
Just one step out the backdoor you can find a picnic area and a little fire place with a beautiful view down the loch.
For heating we offer electric radiator heaters and the wood burning stove which can take long logs. You can find fire wood in the at the farm for 5£ per bag. Or you can buy/collect your own wood.
The electricity works on a £1 coin meter. 1£ suffices for approximately 24hrs.
The 4-mile-track to the cabin is quite bumpy but if you drive carefully, it is accessible with a small car, i.e. that is you do not need a 4x4.
This cabin is ideal for people who want to feel close to nature. Monachyle Tuarach is unique as it is a microcosm of all that is best about the Scottish Highlands. The beauty of the landscape and the nature is unrivalled. This is the place for people who want a real taste of adventure in the wild without having to travel too far from an airport.
As the hut is located on a farm and is made of wood, it is likely that there are mice. But as long as you store your food in boxes or in the cupboard where the mice cannot reach it (especially at night!), it is no problem.
The cabin does NOT have Wi-Fi but there is Wi-Fi in the Hostel and other cabins (for more information read below).
You can find Wellington boots for loan in the porch in the Hostel and use of the ferry boat is available for guests.

Guest access
Guests in the Haybarn have exclusive use of the facilities - i.e. fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with electric shower.

Other things to note
Guests should bring their own bath towels and all food. Also, if you are coming in the summer, bring anti-midge cream or spray as, when the weather conditions are right for them, the midges will be out.
This is a working sheep farm so no dogs are allowed and we ask you to shut closed gates and respect hay fields etc.
The hut itself does NOT have Wi-Fi but we are happy to give the Wi-Fi password for the Hostel or Mother&Grandma Teat (which are other cabins that we rent). You can find a sitting area outside where you can use the Wi-Fi if needed.
Unfortunately, as the living room, one of the bedrooms and the bathroom are only accessible through stairs, this cabin is NOT suitable for disabled/elderly people.

Love travel, especially in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Have visited India, China, USA and Mexico and even Siberia. Love countries with indigenous cultural traditions - like our very own Gaelic-speaking Scotland. Worked in Gaelic animation for 20 years.
