Res Ipsa, our 1939 Matthews cabin cruiser sleeps 6-7. Moored near Kings Park on Newport harbor's most peaceful waterfront. Beautiful views day or night. Relaxed and comfortable, she is an ongoing restoration project, funded by our guests. Our thanks to last seasons guests, for helping us save her. Rescued from the knackers yard last year, she will receive upgrades this year, of a galley and shower. Hopefully by July. Dock facilities available upon request/availability. Captains available for chartered cruises. Inquire about additional costs. Come experience Newport from the water!
After being rocked to sleep by a gentle breeze, you awake to a fresh cup of tea. (Or coffee) A light breakfast, then into town via water taxi for a tour, shopping, the mansions, lunch... Back to the boat for dinner on the aft deck, while you watch Columbia and Heritage race by in all their 12-meter glory! Maybe a sail out in the bay on one of them tomorrow? A glass of wine! Maybe a short swim. Hear the live music from kings park. Maybe a short harbor cruise on Temma, or Rumrunner! You get sleepy early when you're on the water and your senses are full. Rocked to sleep!
There is so much to do in Newport.
Harbor cruises, 12 meter sailing, the restaurants are great, the mansions!
I love the cliff walk. Beaches! Night life is a lil crazy for me, but have at it! Parasailing, helicopter tours, haunted house tours! Cycling, I go running on ocean drive. There is an event every weekend... Fourth of July, folk fest, jazz fest, boat show, chowder fest, restaurant week. Or just relax and watch the activity in the harbor. My favorite is when friends come by water for tea! And when the neighbor puts up his tanbark sails on his Stonehorse cutter sailboat 25 feet away(one of my favorite sailboats!)
Interaction with guests
I can be around, or go away... Your choice.
Res Ipsa is a classic yacht, an old one at that. She should be treated like a piece of fine furniture. This is not a party boat. We hope, like us, you will appreciate her qualities. Mahogany paneling and trim. Solid panel doors. Glass windows. Bronze fixtures. Glass oil lamps. All of which can be expensive or impossible to replace. Your care and consideration is appreciated.
There will be a two night minimum for week days and weekends must be booked entirely. (Fri, sat, sun) we are sorry for this inconvenience, but splitting the weekends has proven problematic, and daily turning of the boat is nearly impossible during the week.
Premium weekends include:
July 4th. June 30-July4. $700/night
Folk Fest July 28-30(URL HIDDEN)$700/night
Jazz Fest August 4-6. $700/night
Labor Day Sept. 1-4(URL HIDDEN)$700/night
Boat Show $700/night
For July 4th I will anchor the boat out past goat island for an unprecedented view of our town fireworks. Maximum 12 people on board
Folk fest and jazz fest, I anchor the boat every day in the flotilla right off Fort Adams as close to your preferred stage as possible. Maximum 12 people on board.
