About this listing

This is the dream cottage of romantics. It has a queen size bed with a kulambo, a kitchenette and a breakfast nook that overlooks the garden of Balai La-Hi. Sheets and towels are provided.

The space

The traveler's cottage is part of Balai' La-Hi, a private sanctuary by the sea in Barrio San Rafael (a short walk from the Cawit Port in Boac, Marinduque). There is nothing here except the sound of waves, birds chirping, leaves rustling in the wind, and sea vessels coming and going. Everything about this place is homey, natural and honest.

Do you need a quiet place to run away to? Are you tired of the city? Or maybe you merely want to spend undistracted quality time with a loved one ? The Traveler's cottage was created for such :) Come and experience bucolic bliss and home cooking that will bring back wonderful memories, where the wifi may be weak but real conversations are unforgettable.

Delightfully, Balai La-Hi is not all there is to the island province of Marinduque. It is also a historic province whose towns date back to the Spanish era. For mountain lovers, there's a majestic Volcano called Malindig you can climb and wild forests you can hike. For bikers, there are well paved roads running along pristine coastlines as well as unbeaten paths into the "ilayas" of each barrio. But ! Most wonderful about this place are the cheerful barrio folk you will surely get to know .

Once a part of the province of Batangas, Marinduque is called the "heart of the Philippines" because it is indeed geographically at the heart of the archipelago and shaped like one. Maybe thats why it is also consistently awarded the most peaceful province in the Philippines.

Balai La-Hi Get the easy, breezy, laid back provincial lifestyle still with incredible comfort. The place has a wonderful homey design, each corner could be an "instagramable" moment. Both the home and grounds is spacious. You can walk around the property and immerse yourself in nature. You can take a dip by the beach which is settled in front of the house. I usually swim early in the morning when there are not boats docked on the port. You can play with the dogs and cuddle with them on the furniture. Machuka the askal is incredibly lovable. The jack Russell is tiny but packed with energy. Very entertaining to watch them. I recommend you stay in the cottage so your stay feels more private. You might feel warm during the day so just request for extra electric fans. At night the breeze is pretty cool and you'll feel better. The inn-keeper, Ate Celia is great. She'll make your stay perfect. Ask her for extra towels, request for a bonfire and even book island hopping thru her. Ate Leah, the cook. Man can she cook up a dish! Try her ginataang Crab and even her steamed shrimp. She cooked so well my boyfriend wanted to hire her hahaha. We had so much fun with them we even invited them island hopping with us. The owners Cholo and Thor weren't there but would message me directions, schedules of the RoRo and would accommodate all my questions. They would even check up on us thru the innkeeper during our stay. Travel wise it's a long drive. 8 hours to get there from Manila but the drive in Marinduque is simply amazing. Bring a 4X4 car and you'll really enjoy it! Scenic views everywhere and fresh air. P. S you can just waze your destinations (Lucena Port) Then once you're in Marinduque waze (Cawit Port from Balanacan Port) and you'll get to Balahi Lahi. Overall I had a wonderful stay and would definitely go back!
