The apartment is in an old wool factory building that was later turned into artist studios. Many of the studios have now been turned into apartments, this one included. Therefore the entrance and hallway are quite raw.
The river 'Varmá' runs by the house and the waterfall 'Álafoss' is in the backyard.
The area is peaceful with nice walking paths and feels quite remote although it's only 16km from Reykjavík city centre.
For those with a car, there are plenty of parking spaces.

A great experience we have spent in Iceland, and particularly at Hekla's house. It has everything you need to return home after driving through the spectacular Icelandic landscapes: furniture, diaphanous spaces, comfort, easy parking, near supermarket, gas station, well connected to highway 1 and very close to Reykjavík. An ideal and quiet place to rest with the children. The experience of seeing the aurora borealis from the window of the house itself has been fantastic. Hekla and her mother are lovely and help you with everything you need. Thanks to both of you. If we go back to Iceland, and for sure we will come back again, we will repeat in this house

We had a wonderful stay at Hekla's airy converted art studio. The location was perfect for our daily excursions to Iceland's beautiful sites, and we also enjoyed walking on the neighborhood paths. The place looks just like the photos -- it's spacious and filled with art. The studio was easy to find, check in was very easy, there was ample parking and the WiFi worked. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here. One word of caution: If you're a light sleeper, you may want to bring earplugs since we could hear the people above walking around.

Usually, you wish that an Airbnb place was more like your home. Here, you wish your home was more like Hekla's place. Artistic yet very cosy, traditional Scandinavian style yet trendy, our family with kids found it a perfect base to our trips in golden circle of Iceland. This is not a place you sleep over in, it makes you want to spend more time in it. Very friendly and inspiring hosts. Perfect and beyond your expectations in every aspect.

Hekla's place is spacious, warm, and comfortable. The apartment itself is located only about 15 minutes outside of downtown Reykjavik, which was convenient for us. After spending the previous 10 days driving around the country, Hekla's place was the perfect place to unwind before departing home. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be back in the future!

Hekla flat is quite something. It's close to Reykjavik (15-20 minutes), in a small and cute neighboorhoud with a little waterfall under the window and some paths to hike around. The flat itself is gorgeous, the space is quite raw , a little bit industrial with an artistic touch and some great furnitures if you're into photography and art.

Lovely place to stay in a great location. The apartment was very cozy and we loved all the artwork. There is a very scenic walking path close by. Short drive to Reykavik and perfect place to stay to explore the Golden Circle.

We really enjoyed this unique and artistic apartment. All furniture and decorations are just mind-blowingly elegant! The apartment is spacious and airy - thanks to high room height. The location is just one minute off the Iceland's main ring road, but we couldn't hear any traffic noise. Shops and restaurants in Mosfellsbær can be reached with a couple minutes driving or 10-15 minutes walking. Elevator is a good bonus if you have lots of luggage, however using the staircase is usually a much faster option. If your visit is during summertime and you are not used to sleeping in a bright environment, take your own sleeping mask with you, because the curtains in this apartment provide only partial shading, not total blackout.
