If you remember this Airbnb is a room in someone's *home* not a hotel, you'll love it. Overall, my experience was excellent.
I needed a quick escape before the Summer totally passed me by, and very much enjoyed my short 2 nights in the Alder Room. Chris responded quickly to my messages, and the house was easy to find, even in the dark. I will be back here, next time I come to Sequim.
The Alder Room is larger than the pics make it look! Lots of floor space to park your gear, as well as a large closet. The bed is just right (not too firm, not too soft) with a good assortment of pillows to choose from. I slept really well. You may be startled by how quiet the night is out here. People who need white noise / city noise to sleep, will need to plan ahead or ask Chris for suggestions. I'm a late riser when on vacation, so I drowned out other guests' early stirrings by using earplugs.
The house and yard are impeccable yet oh so comfortable. As a host, Chris is like a kindly uncle: he let me make myself at home as if I were family, yet never pushed to make conversation more than I wanted (perfect for a friendly introvert like me). Max the border collie is a bit of a showoff :) in the back yard, where he will race around you while yipping for attention. And Max thinks he's human: he wants to insert himself in conversations (esp. when Chris gets phone calls, Lol!).
The back yard, patio, and pond are quiet and lovely, and I spent mornings there drinking my coffee in the sun, and evenings stargazing...WOW.
Chris generously offers his bar as well, of which unfortunately I did not get to partake. However I peered over the spirit selection and give it a thumbs-up. I think Chris is a whiskey drinker, so if you are too, you'll be in heaven!
Two BIG pluses, and rare finds at this price point: 1) Chris' 24-hour cancellation policy, vs. 3, 5, or 7 days on most other listings - a relief given my quick-changing work schedule. 2) The well thought-out Continental breakfast [which by definition is simple, basic] included self-serve Keurig coffee (organic french roast pods by San Francisco Coffee, very nice choice!), hardboiled eggs, milk, o.j., mini sticky cinnamon rolls, and huge blueberry muffins.
