From our living room a wall of windows take in the expansive views of Barter's Island upward to the ocean. Relax on the sunny deck and listen to the birds and lobster boats and maybe glimpse an eagle or seal on the ledge at low tide.
Enjoy a comfortable space with fireplace, deck and full galley kitchen, the quiet of Westport Island and adventures of midcoast Maine.

The space

Enjoy the quiet of two acres on a lovely quiet road along the Sheepscot River. We have a pond and an amazing view of the river leading out to the ocean. The in-law apartment is attached to one side of our house but has it's own entrance and deck. The apartment has all the amenities that you will need on vacation. The kitchen has a coffee maker, toaster, dishes and utensils.

Interaction with guests

We will be available in person or by phone or text to answer any questions or help in any way to help you enjoy your stay.

Other things to note

The apartment is comfortable for 2 people. If you request to have an extra person stay for one night maximum it will be an extra charge of $30 for that night.

It's almost impossible to beat the sunset views here, and the place is so nice and cozy! For those coming from out of town, it is less than an hour's drive to Popham Beach State Park or Boothbay Harbor and a 3 hour drive from Acadia National Park that are all absolutely worth the drive.

This is a wonderful place on the water, in the countryside, far from the madding crowd. It has a full kitchen-which allows you to wake up and enjoy the view with coffee and ham and eggs. (Shaw's grocery store is on route 1) We could relax or go explore the surrounding towns. We hope to return.

Million-dollar panoramic view, priceless sunrises, and three playful seals we named Cecil, Cecile, and Clarence. Apartment is tastefully decorated including original art by a New England artist. Perfect get away off the beaten path. Listen to the sounds of nature with the occasional passing of a lobster boat. The weather was perfect. We didn’t want to leave.

If you're looking for a beautiful place to get away from it all, this is the place. It is attractively decorated, comfortable, and extremely clean. Mary, the host, has very thoughtfully provided overly hand and shower soaps (my husband asked me to order them for home), as well as a kitchen that has everything you need. There are even condiments and other necessary cooking items in the cupboards in case you forgot your own, which is very kind. The views are stunning, and we loved every minute there - it was so peaceful.

Mary's place was perfect for our little get away. My wife and I took a 5 day trip up to Maine from Philadelphia. We didn't have much of a plan and wanted to rest and Mary's place ended up being exactly what we needed. The apt itself was clean and had fully stocked. The view was incredible and having a little deck was even better. We watched the seals out on a rock in the middle of the river everyday. The house was located about it twenty minutes down from the town but the drive was so nice it wasn't hard to go in for groceries or anything. We spent each day going out to different towns for touristy things, even Acadia one day which was a beautiful 3 hour drive. One thing I wish we had done was rent kayaks for the week to have down at her dock. The Sheepscot river is so nice and peaceful that it would have bee great to be able to go out for a paddle in the mornings. We did go into booth bay to kayak, but the marina wasn't as quiet and natural as the sheepscot. There is a beautiful little hike about a 3 minute drive or so away that goes out along the west shore of Westport island that was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I went out and hiked or ran it three times while I was there because it was so close and the trail through such a nice forest. It cuts out along the coast and is perfect for the sunset if you're willing to hike back a mile in the dark. It's called the Bunyon preserve and mary has a copy of the map at the apt. Anyways, it was a wonderful stay and I recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet Maine getaway! Thanks Mary!
