Groovy 1970s Midcentury A-Frame cabin getaway located in quiet & quaint Plalan Lake in the Village of West Farmington. Cabin is situated on a heavily wooded acre. Cabin has many local nearby attractions: Amish Country, Middlefield, Western Reserve Greenway (bike path), antique shopping, Nelson Kennedy Ledges State Park, Holden Arboretum, Burton Village, Welshfield Inn, and Mosquito Lake.

The space

Queen Bed, Two Twin beds, and a sofa with trundle bed. Home has fireplace for duraflame logs, outdoor fire ring for nighttime campfires, tabletop charcoal BBQ, horsehoe game, board games, record player. Kitchen has two-burner hotplate, crock pot, drip coffee maker, toaster, countertop convection oven, 1970s A-frame home has very steep stairs to second floor (they are more like a ladder), please go up and down carefully, always using railing. It's also easy to bump your head on the roof beams if you are on the taller side.

Guest access

Guests have use of kitchen, bath, living area, front yard, deck, two small upstairs bunk rooms/guest rooms

Interaction with guests

I am happy to advise on use of the home as well as local recommendations for restaurants and attractions.

Other things to note

Bring slippers, the floor gets chilly on cold days, rubber boots are advisable for the yard for rainy damp days.

House is an a-frame. I am 5'10" and always am hitting my head on beams on the interior as it is a small cabin (400 sq ft) with walls that angle in (it is a little bit like being in an attic of a house). If you're tall, the cabin will be a challenge.

There is no wifi and there is a television, however, you'll need to connect to your computer or ipad (or whatever device you have) with HDMI cable to watch anything, as there is no cable service. There is a DVD player and a few DVDs.

Small cabin but Matthew described it accurately. The stairs are steep but I could do them even with arthritic legs. The only thing we would change would be to add a tiny apartment sized stove and more light in the living room. Very doable. We loved it.

We had a great time in Matthew's cabin. There is not much to do around even though Cleveland is not that far. It's perfect for a retreat in a quiet backcountry place or for a quick getaway. Everything was provided so no need to bring much. I definitely recommend it !

This environment was wonderful for a quiet escape from the day-to-day hustle. The interior design is inviting and cozy. The cabin is exactly as it is described; make sure you read the height suggestions and plan your meals in advance. Matthew was incredibly responsive to any question and very helpful–the park he recommended was a great experience. It was close to a main road and a neighborhood, so there was still a bit of activity -- but also the wonderful sound of horses trotting down the road. I enjoyed every day of my week-long retreat. Would definitely recommend and return :)

A peaceful weekend! The first fire pit was already built for me and it was so nice to simply light it up and enjoy the beautiful night. So much charm!

Stayed at Matthew's cabin while visiting family in the area. Let me just say with the rise of (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), people have this new option of staying at a home instead of crazy hotel prices, but most homeowners also do not provide many of the hotel amenities, well, Matthew DELIVERED! His sheets and bedding were of the highest quality and comfort, as well as some of the plushest towels I've ever felt! He provided soap and shampoo in the bathroom and even left our family a large dish of snacks to enjoy during our week long stay. The house is perfect for what we wanted: quiet, rustic nature experience and a place to rest our heads. It is on the small side and does not come with internet, so get out and enjoy the beautiful countryside that Northeast Ohio has to offer! Many thanks for an enjoyable stay, Matthew!

Great little cabin. Just big enough for 4 people. Matt was excellent, responded right away to my questions. The house was stocked with all the little things you forget like firewood, fans, toiletries, and even some snacks! We visited the nearby Nelson Ledges and Mosquito lake and both were very scenic. There is a big toaster oven, but no real cooktop so you're limited when it comes to cooking. Overall it was excellent and we're planning on a return trip!
