Ideal place for those who want to disconnect from it all, in a quiet and beautiful location. This is a very comfortable beach house, just in front of Isla Grande, Colón. (Aprox.2hrs 30minutes from Panama City)

The space

The view from our house is just beautiful, with Isla Grande and a natural reef at your feet (literally!)

Boat rides can be arranged to visit Isla Grande, Isla Mamey or even the San Blas Islands. San Blas is about an hour away.
Snorkeling and even scuba diving can be done in front of the house. Snorkeling and scuba gear can be rented nearby.
Isla Grande is also an ideal place for Surfing.

The property is located 2hours and 30min from Panama City and about 25 minutes from the historic town of Portobello. The is a grocery shop nearby where you can buy the very basics. A full supermarket is about an hour away.

For an additional low fee a local housekeeper can also be arranged to assist you in cleaning the house and also to help you with general information abut the area, charter of local boats, etc.

Interaction with guests

We only rent the house, as a whole, to one guest at a time. We only meet our guests in person only if they ask us to.

The view is lovely and the house is just as described. The only issue was being able to communicate with the hosts. Some amenities weren't working. We tried to contact the hosts multiple times to resolve the issues, but we only received a response upon our departure.

Response from Ricardo & Maria:
The area where the house is located has no internet available by any company jet. As soon as I got your message about the TV, I responded. Also the area suffered a little with a Hurricane before your arrival so this is why the TV had not been connected to the area at that point. As much as I tried I only was able to get it up and running on your last day at the house.

The location and neighborhood was exactly how it was described. The Caribbean right at your front door. We saw Howler Monkeys from the back door and Rooster fish from the front. You can fish from the front porch and snorkel with in seconds. Any issues we had with the house were taken care of. Be advised that you are in a very remote area with limited shopping. It would be wise to bring plenty of the essentials you will be required to replace.

Had a great weekend on the Caribbean coast in this fantastic house - what a spot! The house is large, with three big bedrooms, with plenty space. Ideal for two families with kids - two ' master bedrooms' and one kids bedroom, with room for up to 6 kids :) The veranda is the outdoor living room, with beautiful views onto the bay and Isla Grande. The hammocks are wonderful to relax. The sea in front is not easy to swim in, there are ' pools' where you can relax. You need watershoes/crocs to walk there and the house has a stack of them to use - really great. If you have odd shoe sizes, bring your own. The shops close by are better stocked than we expected and are a good addition when you forgot something.

I went to Portobelo to scuba dive and wanted to stay close to the dive shop there, so I found Ricardo's and Maria's place. I couldn't have been more pleased with this house. Let's get the "bad" out of the way, first (nothing was really bad, but you know what I mean). Getting there was a bit tricky, but not too bad. We rented a car at the airport in Panama City and drove straight there. As soon as I had any doubt where to go, Maria was prompt to answer the phone (several times) and walk us through the directions. The gate to the house is a bit secluded. One of the descriptions we received was to look for a blue gate, but there were at least two others nearby, so it took us a bit to find it. Once there, we were greeted by the lady in charge of caring for the place (she only speaks Spanish as stated). She was brief and courteous. She showed me around a bit, where everything we needed was, and the keys to the place. Oh, the keys! There are a million keys to this place :) By the end of our stay I was proud to have almost mastered them all. The rooms were big and comfortable and the a/c units worked like a charm. The showers only had cold water. It's possible I missed some explanation by our host regarding this, but we didn't really care as the weather begged for cool showers and we were happy with them. We spent most of our time in the ample kitchen and the outside patio, swaying on the hammocks overlooking the water. What a beautiful view. We took the kayak out quite a bit, as well (just be careful with the corals). I would definitely recommend this house if you want to enjoy Portobelo during your visit to Panama. The town is quaint and we found a few really good eats "downtown." I would highly recommend a stop at La Cueva de Morgan (you might have to ask around to find it). The chef's name is Marco and he's italian. The food was equal to a 5 star restaurant! El Castillo is also a good place (between Portobelo and the house) to enjoy the sunset over the water from their outside patio and boat dock. One small tip: don't leave any food lying around for more than a few minutes. You are in a pretty natural area and there are critters about. We had a few ants stop by because we left some cake out on the kitchen counter. If you store your food in the fridge, you won't run into any issues. Thank you Ricardo and Maria for providing such a wonderful place and I'm looking forward to coming back soon! Rod

Great house with incredible views! Our host was amazing. He was available by phone the day we checked in to answer our questions. We were greeted by his caretaker who was able to give us a tour of the house to help us settle in. The house had everything we needed to enjoy the Caribbean!

The house was awesome and Ricardo was helpful and responsive. The house is nicely decorated, and the AC in the rooms works great. It is right on a coral reef across from Isla Grande, so you can't really swim right outside the house, but the house comes with great beach toys, like a kayak and stand up paddle board. We took a quick boat ride to Isla Grande to swim and lay on the beach for the day, which I'd recommend.
