Brand new to the market, our 3 bedroom townhouse is bright and spacious. It is located in the heart of old Galway and within 10 minutes walking distance from all areas of the city centre. It is a perfect launch pad for your Galway city adventure.

The space
The house, recently refurbished is warm and welcoming, ideal for your Galway and Wild Atlantic Way adventures. It offers a quiet tranquil haven from the bustling streets outside.
The house is spacious and bright and has free high speed broadband and wifi.

The living room is large and has 2 comfortable sofas and an armchair. It has a stove, TV and DVD player, bookcase with books (and also plenty of children's books), board games, a space to work on with your laptop and lots of lamps and down lighters you can turn on if you're having a relaxing and cosy night in.

The kitchen is also spacious and has a fully equipped modern kitchen with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, extractor fan, fridge/freezer, microwave and all the cooking utensils you need including a steamer, juicer and a hand blender set.
Upstairs there are three spacious double bedrooms. The first bedroom has a comfortable double bed with an ensuite bathroom and a walk in electric shower. There is also a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

The other 2 bedrooms also have comfy double beds, wardrobe space and large mirrors.

Each bedroom has cosy carpet underfoot, comfy duvets and pillows, towels, 2 dressing gowns and a bedside USB and plug charging station. Each bedroom also has black out blinds in case you need a sleep in some morning (or 2!) and will ensure street lights don't interfere with your nights sleep in preparation for another busy day exploring Galway city and surrounds. Each window is tripled glazed which means noise outside is cut to a minimum.

There is a large main bathroom with a bath you can relax in after a long days adventure and a gorgeous power shower. In addition to this and the ensuite there is a downstairs toilet.

There is a central heating system which you can turn on as you need or you can just light the stove for a very cosy night in reading, chatting about your day, planning your next day or playing board games.

There is also a hairdryer, iron, ironing board. We have a baby travel cot/crib and stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs.

Some history about the house:
Built in the 1800s, the house had a small grocery style shop to the front and was a core part of old Galway.

The shop sold flour, tea leaves, sugar and other staples to Galway city folk and those who came from the county and environs to stock up rations on a monthly basis.

Our conversion in 2016 has retained some of the original features of the shop and old house. There is old exposed brick around one of the Windows, furniture - including the old shop counter which you can use to work on with your laptop using the free wifi, doors and an old range which is still in its original place in the kitchen.

Guest access
You will have the entire house to yourself where you can use it as a base for sightseeing as well as a tranquil haven to relax in - watch TV or DVDs, browse the Internet, chill out with a nice stove fire with a book, cook, have a relaxing bath or reenergising power shower or sit in the back yard if the sun comes out ( maybe with a book or a coffee and fab pastry from the Italian cafe 5 doors away)! It's a home away from home.

Other things to note
This house is unique in that it was built over 100 years ago but was completely refurbished and modernised in 2016. The home now boasts some of its traditional features which fit very comfortably with the new furnishings and add character and delight to each guest.

You might spot the old brick or discover one of the modern looking doors is actually an original door which was opened and closed thousands of times over the past century ! Spot the old range (stove) in the kitchen, the original window between the living room and kitchen, an old fireplace upstairs and the shop counter which served many Galwegians from the late 1800s to the modern day.

Location

Galway, County Galway, Ireland

The house is amazingly central with pubs, restaurants, cafes, main shopping area, taxis, bus and train stations and theatres all only 5 minutes walk away. Galway is a small city and its easy to get around by foot.

Woodquay is a part of old Galway with references to the place name as far back as 1688. Woodquay in Irish is Barachalla ( Barr an Chaladh) which means Head of the Port. So called as fuel for the city arrived into Woodquay by boat (yes the river came in a lot closer those days) and was occasionally known as Galway's second port.

Today Woodquay is a local neighbourhood with many families who have been living there for a number of generations and is a very safe neighbourhood.

2 minutes away you will find Eyre Square - the heart of Galway city centre. There are also many pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops within a 2 minute walk. There are many of pubs, cafes and restaurants close by, many only 15 seconds walk away! If you turn left at the front door, It is a 1 min walk to the Town Hall Theatre, 2 min walk to the Waterside area, 5 min walk to NUI Galway, 5 min walk to the cinema and 7 min walk to the city's hospital (UCHG).

Turn right, there is a fab Italian cafe 5 doors away, Barr an Chaladh and McSwiggans pubs are 8 doors away and also without dispute is Galways best Thai restaurant Papa Riches. Eyre Street which is 20 seconds away has a plethora of great cafes, City Taxis and leads you straight to Eyre Square.

5 min away you will find Galways oldest market selling fresh produce and locally produced crafts. It is open all year round on Saturdays from 8am-6pm and Sunday's and Bank Holidays and Fridays in July and August and everyday during the Galway International Arts Festival from 12pm-6pm.

Traverse through the old streets of Galway and you are less than 5 mins from Quay Street with its famous bars ( especially the infamous Tigh Neactains) and restaurants. Close by here you might be able to catch a show at the world leading Druid Theatre or An Taibhdhearc or head across the bridge to Galways West End with more outstanding restaurants and the Galway Arts Centre.

Although it only takes minutes to get the main streets the city bike scheme can be found at the end of the street.

The house is 5 min walk from the train and bus stations.

You are very close to the Claddagh, Salthill Promenade and will be in the heart of the buzz for the Film Fleadh, Galway International Arts Festival, Galway Theatre Festival, Cuirt International Poetry Festival, Galway Races, Oyster Festival, Food Festival ... to name a few festivals that are on your door step !!
