First I must say thanks to Lyuda for choosing villa Serenity for their vacation stay in Aruba. Sorry your trip was delayed due to work and sorry the exxtra days you wanted to spend at the villa and which I had offered at a huge discount since you had missed a few days you could not entertain due to the pending weather and flight interruptions. In spite of the review I would be happy to host you again. However I would like to make a few corrections. Villa Serenity is a very large 3 bedroom 2 bathroom villa with high cathedral celing and not an apartment. It has a small hot water boiler when turned on supplies the villa with hot water. Having hot water in a house or villa in Aruba is always a plus, not all homes has hot running water. Not sure what happened but my property manager did not report anything about hot water neither did Lyuda. She did not call or email me to inform me there was no hot water. Her flight was delayed for hours and I kept in constant touch with her and with my property manager to reasure her and to make sure they would be met at the villa whatever time they arrive so it is surprising that she never informed anyone re the hot water. Because of the cost of utilities the hot water tank is not generally on 247. In my listing it states that WIFI is strong at the pool and in the rooms but not in the livingroom. I own the house next door and the wifi supplies both homes. The guest that checked out prior to Lyuda made no reference to hot water and no other guest for that matter. Not sure what basic cooking means. I felt that I have given guest a fully equipted kitchen The kitchen has a Full size stove, oven, fridge, microvwave, coffee maker, Ninja for whipping up smoothies and multiple uses, a Cuisinart food processor, toaster, citrus juicer, mixer, 2 set of plates for formal and informal diining, a host of flatwares, steak knives, frying pans of all size, a set of Firenze pots in various pots, cloth table cloth, napkins, wine glases, chanpange glasess, water glasses, plastic glasses for children to use at the pool, chargers for formal table setting, water jugs, serving bowls and the list goes on. Although the villa is for 6 people the table settings is not just 6 of each flat ware or plate. I supply enough that guest do not have to do the dishes each time after a meal in order to find a plate or flat ware to use. I really do not understand the concept of basic cooking. To me basic cooking would be a hot plate a small fry pan and a small set of pots a few flat ware and few dishes. I pride myself in providing high end linens, towels and beach towels, for my guest and a well equipped kitchen, washer dryer and a grill for their outdoor cooking. Thanks Peter for your review. Glad you and your family liked the villa. The odor you mention comes from a closet that contain paint cans and construction materials not meant to be used by guest. The island is hot all year round so any room or closet which is not aired out regularly will have an odor when first opened. My inexperience is not with caring for my guest or providing a clean, safe, and well maintained villa for them to relax and have a great time during their stay but with being new to airbnd, long term rental, large discounts and instant booking. WIFI was available at no extra cost but was weak in some ares of the villa due to the fact the company who worked with SETAR (the internet provider on the island) left abruptly. There was some miscommunication with the electricity, however airbnb response team step up to the plate with a good resolution to this unfortunate situation for which I am very satisfied. Sincere thanks to the airbnb response team keep up the good work. I will be removing instant booking from my listing for the time being so that what has occur here will be a non issue in the future. All in all I thank the Hulshof for choosing my villa for their stay on the island and in spite of the mis-communication I hope they will consider returning to villa serenity on their next vacation to Aruba.
