Stay at our rustic cabin in the historic mining town of Montezuma, nestled in a high alpine valley with beautiful views from every window. Ski or hike right out the door or drive 5 miles to Keystone Ski Resort on paved road.

The space

The cabin is a small two story log home, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, BBQ, and a gas fireplace. This house is the perfect retreat if you are looking for a quiet spot to watch birds, hike/ski/snowshoe/bike from the front door, and enjoy Colorado's high alpine environment.

Guest access

Guests have access to the main floor and upstairs in the house, which sleeps 6-8 comfortably, dormitory style. This cabin is reminiscent of a 10th Mountain Hut, but with indoor plumbing and heat. The house has books, board games, and a guitar.

Interaction with guests

Guests have the cabin to themselves.

Other things to note

We ask that before they leave, guests wash their dishes, and strip the sheets and pillowcases off beds that were used during their stay.

Nan's cabin is lovely with views all around. It is right in the middle of some of the nicest hikes and cross-country ski trails in the state. We were excited to see a group of four moose on nearby Deer Creek trail on this trip. It is just a short drive from three great downhill ski areas as well. The cabin layout is great for group socializing, games or just relaxing. This was our third visit!

Nan's cabin is the ultimate for an off-grid but accessible get away. The view was spectacular and the sound of the rushing river right outside the windows made for an absolutely blissful setting. We enjoyed hiking up Saints John road and mine-hunting. The thermostat controlled the fireplace, which made it easy to enjoy. We can't wait to come back!

The cabin was in a quiet out of the way place in a very awesome part of the mountains. It was very comfortable and well furnished and the host Nan was very communicative about any concerns we had.

This rustic cabin has all the modern amenities you expect. Its roomy interior allows you to have your own space and it peaceful location is very relaxing. It is far enough up the mountain that you feel completely detached, yet minutes away from amenities, attractions and hiking.

This cabin is a perfect place to stay. There is plenty of room and everything you would ever need. In addition to that the location is incredible. Gorgeous views. Nan is a wonderful host and was so easy to communicate with. Very responsive.

The house was better than the pictures. The house was clean with plenty of room for everybody that stayed which included 4 adults and 4 kids from 12yrs to 1yr. There was a beautiful stream on the property. The house was only 20min to Breckenridge which was a great little town to do some shopping. The communication with the owner was beyond great and we had everything we needed while we were there.

Nan User ProfileNan is a superhost.

My husband and I are two former geologists-turned climate scientists, with 3 kids and a love of the outdoors. We enjoy everything from rafting to downhill skiing to backpacking to bird watching to relaxing on the porch. We also love playing music and we make sure the guitar in the cabin is tuned for guests. (I play bluegrass; my son favors blues, jazz, and rock n' roll). Our cabin reflects a comfortable blend of whimsy and practicality; we adhere to the philosophy that if something breaks, we fix it. We like to cook spicy food, and we love hosting pot luck dinners. We value friends, family, experiences and laughter. We enjoy traveling, and our favorite family adventure - so far - was backpacking the Overland Track in Tasmania.
