What a wonderful place! Josh, Todd and Sally were the best host. We had an food tour together in the old town. We really enjoyed our stay, the delicious food and wonderful surrounding. Too bad we only stayed for one night.

Wow! Beautiful location & gracious hosts - the pictures just don't do this place justice. The scenery is stunning & the stay was fabulous. Josh and his family were very welcoming. We loved our stay and only wished we had booked it longer. If you are look for a peaceful retreat during your stay in Italy, this is it!

This magical place will enchant you the moment you set foot on the property. (Be sure and ONLY use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps to find it as it is truly "off the beaten path". As I write this neither Airbnb's Apple Maps nor our car's nav system could get us there accurately. Persist. It is more than worth it. ) Imagine sweeping views of the valley, next door to an ancient church on the Via Francigena, the pilgrimage that starts in Rome and finishes in Canterbury. It is an exquisitely remodeled 16th century home, with attention to the most minute of details. Fruits trees and vineyards are all around you, and all designed to let all the guests mingle and get to know each other in a microcosm of an international community. Josh is American and his mom Sally were there to greet us and give us food and wine even when we arrived late. They are so very gracious and ready to answer any and all questions we had, any time of any day. We extended our stay another day to three because it was just so lovely. Pontremoli is an easy drive down the hill, and be sure to bring your Italian phrase book as we personally encountered very little English. We hiked to a waterfall, and it was so easy to drive to Cinque Terre to catch the ferry and explore that area for the day. Thank you Josh and Sally (and Heather!) for the fabulous Sanctuary. It is perfectly named!

We booked for one night and stayed for two on our way to Firenze. Would have stayed longer time permitting. Sally was such a gracious and welcoming host. Josh and Heather have rejuvinated an original farmhouse attuned to the travellers needs for a memorable experience - tranquility and rustic luxury. Highly recommended. George and Lucy

The Sanctuary in Pontremoli, Italy was a picture perfect setting for a relaxing get-away! It's remote location offers a lovely view of mountains and vineyards, both from the front and back terraces. My room (The Loft) offered all the comforts of home (and a memory foam bed!) along with a beautifully remodeled bath with very unique features.....all fitting the time period of the building. A great experience with great hosts!

Welcome! Benvenuti!

We are Josh & Heather- lovers of travel, art and nature. Thank you for considering our 4 bed/4 bath stone cottage for rent in Northern Tuscany.
