The space

Our apartment is in an old, converted Victorian terrace house, surrounded by quiet walking streets, cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and shops, Saturday markets and a cosmopolitan neighbourhood. The city centre, Sydney harbour, Opera House, the NSW Art Gallery, Australian Museum, Rushcutter's Bay, Paddington and Surry Hills are all within a 5-20min walk away. Access to all areas of Sydney and beyond. Kings Cross train station is 5mins away, and access to the major bus routes to Sydney's beaches 2mins away.

YES, we provide bed linen, blankets and towels. It's hardly a holiday if you have to bring your own!
We also provide some cooking basics, like oil, salt, pepper and sugar, to minimise your food shopping.

This is not a new apartment building, but an old converted, 1800's terrace house (converted in the 1920's when Darlinghurst had the nickname 'Razorhurst' !) While we love the building character, we realise some people prefer 'new', and would suggest that this may not be the place for these people.

WE ARE CHILD FRIENDLY!
We have two young children ourselves and understand that little things can make traveling with kids so much easier! If it helps, we can provide:
- lift-up safety screen to gas log open fire
- Travel cot
- Cot linen
- Baby High Chair
- Baby bath
- Children's cutlery, cups and plates
We ask that parents supervise children carefully when staying, and also ensure food is not eaten while sitting on the sofa. Please clean up any spills and mess, if they happen, as soon as they happen, in particular on our high chair, which provided at no additional charge for your use.

ABOUT THE LOCATION:
The apartment is in a great location, surrounded by pedestrian streets. Darlinghurst is now a sought-after suburb of Sydney, particluarly for young creatives and families, and is also popular with downsizers, offering walking distance to the city, Paddington, Surry Hills and Potts Point and great restaurants and nightlife, while being a short trip to beautiful surrounding parks and the beaches of Sydney. Womerah Avenue itself is considered one of (if not the best!) streets in Darlinghurst. Quiet and tree-lined, it is home to both a large number of young singles and couples, and a growing number of families who aren't willing to leave the convenience and spoils of the area behind for the suburbs!

PERSONAL SAFETY
We live in the area with our six and eight year old children, as do a large number of other families. Womerah Ave and the Darlinghurst area has gentrified over the last 10 years, and is one of the most creative and desirable areas of Sydney. The area is highly populated and, using common sense, we have never felt anything but safe in the inner city area.

CARS
Parking on the street is time limited. Car rental locations are close by and GoGet car-share is easy and available close by. Locals walk everywhere or use the buses and trains - the location is central and this is easy. If you have a car let us know and we may be able to provide a space for you to park.
A number of "GoGet" car-share vehicles are located within a two minute walk of the apartment. Parking is free in "car-share" spaces and foreign licences are accepted. Prior to leaving home (to avoid delays in waiting for activation card to arrive in post) you can register using our address for the information pack and activation card. Search for GoGet Car Share Sydney. Look for the FAQ's.

PLEASE NOTE:
Our flat is up a flight of stairs, on the first floor of an old 1930's altered (1890's built) Victorian terrace with four flats. Our flat is over two levels, with the main bedroom (and one of the two bathrooms) up an internal flight of stairs.
There is no bath.
Washing machines in a shared laundry accessed from the shared courtyard. There is a drying rack provided in case you want to hand wash or dry items inside. If you do this, please open the windows to ventilate our home.

This is a NO SMOKING BUILDING. Absolutely no smoking is allowed either inside the apartment or in the shared courtyard. This is a firm rule, about which we are unapologetic. This is important, and ignoring this rule will impact on your security deposit. We have young children and value our smoke free home. Adjoining residents and neighbours include asthmatics who specifically rely on the smoke free building for their health. **Please do not stand on the front steps or front footpath in front of the building smoking - the smoke blows back inside the building**

Interaction with guests

We want you love the apartment and surrounding area as much as we do! It has everything you will need for a comfortable stay, and is professionally cleaned to a high standard between guests. We are only 10 minutes away to assist if necessary, but will leave you to enjoy your stay in privacy. We like to provide flexible check in and check out times where possible, and can provide recommendations for great cafes, restaurants and bars in the area. For families with younger children we can assist with little extras like a baby bath, travel cot, cot linen and baby high-chair if requested. Just ask!

- Please be respectful of other residents in the building and neighbours and keep the noise down, in particular after 10pm.

- If there are any problems during your stay, please let me know and we'll do our best to sort things out.

- NO SMOKERS PLEASE. Absolutely NO SMOKING in the apartment or building, including in the shared courtyard! This is important and ignoring this rule will affect your security deposit. This is a NO SMOKING property, including outside areas. We don't like the smell of smoke in our home, and on our linen, and neither do our other guests. In fact, many guests book our home because we are a strictly no smoking property. Yes, we can still smell cigarette smoke if you stand on the footpath to smoke.

- No pets, sorry.

- We really appreciate it if you can leave the place reasonably clean on your departure. Please treat the place as if it were your own (or even better, your favourite friends who you would hate to disappoint!!). Please wash dishes, etc and return to cupboards before you leave.

- Please contact us prior to departure to notify us of any spills, damage or breakages. If we are not notified, the guest will be held liable for them.

It's simply the best you can get in Sydney. It's within easy walking distance to shops and metro and very centrally located in general bu at the same time very quiet. The flat is amazing and had everything you need. Jo is fast in answering any questions or helping with any problems you might have before or dueing your stay. I would definitely stay here again!

We very much enjoyed staying in Jo’s beautiful flat. It is light, airy and well equipped. The area is quiet with good access to King’s Cross station and local amenities. If returning to Sydney, we would be happy to stay here again.

Our family of 4 adults had a wonderful stay in Jo's comfy apartment. She has a great fireplace that heats the place and turns on with a switch. Plus she has an awesome Nespresso machine. So within 5 minutes of getting up we were sitting by the fire with coffee in hand. The location of the apartment was great with several good restaurants within walking distance (Organic Bread Bakery was our favorite). If we were feeling ambitious we would walk to the water, but otherwise it was a quick Uber ride. Jo was great to deal with and quick to respond to emails. She was kind to let us do an early check-In to accommodate our early flight. And she had breakfast things waiting for us and the apartment warmed up. The bathrooms were recently remodeled and were very nice. We would highly recommend Jo's place as it worked out great for us!

This was our first Airbnb and it couldn't have been simpler. The apartment was as described by Jo and she was so accommodating when I told her we were travelling with our two year old. There were a few toys in the apartment to play with and a high chair was left in the kitchen to make meal times a little easier. The apartment was clean, tidy and a great size for our family of three. It is ideally located with great dining in Darlinghurst and nearby Surry Hills. There were also a couple of parks within an easy walk for our daughter to ride her scooter and play on the swings. Jo made checkin a breeze and left a great welcome pack with ideas for eating, coffee and local shops. We would definitely stay again next time we are in Sydney.

Jo's place is great for 3+ nights stay. It has everything you need. We had the quietest nights during the stay. CBD is within 20 mins by feet, supermarket is within 5 mins. Jo was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Jo's place is fantastic. Very spacious and comfortable (including the beds), with all the conveniences we expected. Communication with Jo prior to our arrival and during our stay was excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the extra little touches like the cookies and coffee, all the information about the neighbourhood and surrounding neighrourhoods. Providing Opal public transport cards is absolutely brilliant. We walked everywhere we wanted to go, and when we wanted to venture further afield King's Cross train station is only a few minutes away. Loved all the restaurants, cafes and shops just a block or two away. I wholeheartedly recommend Jo's place in Darlinghurst, i would definitely stay there again on another visit to Sydney.

We loved it! The place is exactly how it was described! Great communication. Good location, close to Potts Point, Surry Hills & Paddington, and the city! What more could you ask for! There is a friendly cat across the road too. Go give he/she a pat!

My young family and I have lived in Darlinghurst for 7 years, love to travel and appreciate a great 'base camp' to explore from. We think our apartment on a beautifully quiet tree lined street on the boundaries of Darlinghurst and Paddington is perfectly placed to explore some of Sydney's great restaurants, cafes, markets, beaches and beyond.
