All about Cassie’s place

Our home is a clean and bright family home with wooden floors, a peaceful garden and large, light-filled kitchen. We live here and welcome people while we're away, so you can be sure there's everything you need. We're on a friendly street in lively East Oxford - just 2 minutes walk from cosmopolitan Cowley road, 5 minutes from the park, woods and river and 15 minutes walk into the centre of town. It's quiet but close to the action, and Oxford is a great base to explore much of the UK.

The space
Our bright and sunny home is a peaceful and welcoming space - yet is minutes from anything you could possibly need. It's our family home where we live almost all of the time, so we have everything you could need. We rent it out while we're away, and we've worked hard to make it a beautiful and family friendly space to make memories.

The downstairs is an open plan, bright space. The front of the house is the living area, with two comfy sofas, one L shaped for perfect comfy viewing of Netflix or Prime, plenty of blankets and a wood burner for the colder winter months. The dining area runs off the living area, where there is a table that can seat up to 6 (as we only have 6 chairs!).

There's a glass walled room with a skylight ceiling which is currently set up as a playroom, with plenty (!) of toys if you have little ones with you. We also have playmats and baby toys for babies. We have all the cots, highchairs, cutlery etc for their needs - and even their own wooden kitchen to keep them occupied.

The kitchen is the place we spend all our time. It's a large, bright and airy space with walnut wood work surfaces, everything you'd need to cook with, and skylights and windows allowing the light to pour in. There's a small sofa that you can sit on while others cook (!) or watch the clouds above go by through the skylights. We've got a soda stream so you can have sparkling water on tap, cold press juicer, as well as a waffle iron, slow cooker, blender, microwave, new dishwasher and oven, and large fridge/freezer.

The kitchen opens onto the garden, with patio doors leading onto the decking. The garden is a peaceful haven despite being close enough to Oxford city centre to sometimes be able to hear the church bells from the colleges! It's not immaculately polished but it's a lovely space to enjoy the English sunshine (when we have some!), picnic outside or just have a cup of tea under the apple tree (as long as it's not the autumn when apples might be falling off!).

There's a downstairs toilet covered in vintage maps from my parents' travels, as well as a large capacity washing machine, sink and steam iron.

Upstairs there's a family bathroom with a freestanding bath, powerful shower and toilet, with a skylight over the bath.

There's a front bedroom with a Loaf super kingsize bed, which is super comfortable, and windows overlooking the Victorian terraces and the street below.

Next to this master bedroom at the top of the stairs next to the bathroom is a smaller double room which looks out over the garden.

By agreement we can make the large loft bedroom available, which is currently our three year old's room, with a boat-shaped toddler bed and a baby cot too. Or this could be an adult's room as it has a comfortable futon sofa from the Futon Company which opens into a double bed. Please get in touch to discuss this room being available.

The garden has a hanging chair and a hammock too, as well as a children's trampoline and a toddler slide. In late summer there are apples you can pick from the small apple tree and eat, or from the large apple tree and use for cooking.

Where you’ll be

Oxford, England, United Kingdom

Cowley Road is full of cafes, bars and restaurants. One day you may fancy a Japanese, or Mexican, and the next go grab an organic homemade loaf from the pub round the corner. Get brunch at Silvie's bakery cafe (and a cinnamon bun if there are any left!) and then walk down the river to grab some local ale at the Isis pub by Iffley Lock and watch the Oxford rowers training. Or walk the other way along the river into town and see where many an English drama has been filmed, shop to your heart's content, and see the university colleges and historic Oxford buildings. Then wander back home via Cowley road and perhaps some Greek food this time?

During your stay

We will be around to welcome anyone who comes to stay as much as possible and give them some tips on the local area, show them how things work and generally check you're settling in ok. We've been lucky enough to travel quite a lot ourselves and love meeting people from down the road or across the seas!

If we can't be there in person ourselves for some reason, either we can leave you the key or my mum lives around the corner so can welcome you!
