This is our beautiful family home by the sea to the quiet north side of popular seaside town, Teignmouth. We have 2 large double bedrooms (1 ensuite); a smaller double room with futon. The 7/8th beds are available using the comfortable sofa bed downstairs- nursery available. Our home is a great hosting space- recently renovated to an expansive open-plan downstairs living area. Attractions nearby: Shaldon, Dartmoor, English Riviera- plenty to see and do, whether walking or cycling or driving.
We are very proud of the hosting space we have created in our home after 5 months of renovations in the last year. It is a pleasurable place to relax come rain or sun. There is plenty of garden space at front and rear to soak up a few rays and eat outdoors. We often have breakfast on the balcony and relish the view.
We do not have a TV, but there are plenty of board games in our lounge to keep everyone entertained!
You will have access to every part of the property, apart from the garage, which will remain locked throughout.
Interaction with guests
When we are renting out our property, we will be away in our campervan. We will meet and greet you, provide a tour of the property and give you tips about where to visit nearby. Should you have any issues, we should be available via phone.
Other things to note
There are several options for shopping when you are here:
Groceries- Waitrose is incredibly close and Morrisons is on the edge of Teignmouth. There is also a fantastic butchers and fruit n veg shop in Teignmouth town. There is a co-op in town and a Tesco Express should you need anything later than 8/9pm. Town is a lovely place to potter and well worth going round the back streets. For breakfast/lunch, we highly recommend Twenty-Six, or The View. Dinner options definitely require booking- Colosseum (Italian) or Fresco (Italian) are divine- especially Fresco! The famed 'Crab Shack' is down by Back Beach- it is always booked up, so worth getting in early. The Bronx does great burgers, salads, cocktails and craft beers. We have yet to go to the Greek restaurant 'Trade Winds' but have heard amazing reviews. Finn McCools is by far the best fish and chips in town!
Over on the Shaldon side, you have several options for cafes- 'Coffee Rush' is our favourite. The Ness bar/restaurant has a beautiful view and good pub food. The Ode pizza café is lovely, as is the Ode in the Carpark café beside the Ness. Slightly further afield, I would recommend Coombe Cellars for river dining with a view- or, the Thatched Inn at Maidencombe for quaint pub lunches by the sea. Basically, there are lots of options and you can't really go wrong!
- Quiet hours on balcony- after 9pm latest as this is a quiet residential area.
Nick and I have lived in Kooringal since July last year. We lived in Australia for two years prior to this and the one condition for moving back was that it had to be Devon!
We have tirelessly been renovating and decorating since October, 2016, with some major reconstruction work downstairs to create a wide, open hosting space for our soon-to-be family of three! We are keen to get away in our camper over the summer and will be offering our home space during these times. We are keen cyclists, hikers, kayakers, swimmers- a bit of everything outdoors- and absolutely love living in Teignmouth. On a sunny day, having breakfast on the balcony, it truly feels like we are on holidays ourselves. Whether you want to use the space as a base for access to Dartmoor, coastal paths, or a place to relax in a hammock out back, we hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
