Spring garden is exploding and jasmine scent is everywhere! Established and beloved listing newly refreshed and upgraded—and with new hot tub! Come enjoy your own private garden hideaway in the heart of North Oakland. Walking distance to Rockridge and Temescal, BART, and 7 blocks from Berkeley. 5 min drive to UC Berkeley and fwy to SF. Enjoy the myriad of offerings in our vibrant area by day then come sneak away for a peaceful night. Thick plaster walls, garden views, easy parking.

The space
The apartment is the first floor unit of our home, with private and separate entrances from the street and into the space. It is possible (and likely) that we won't see each other at all! Garden views out every window. Real plants inside - not plastic for photos.

Cozy wool rug in livingroom with Jotul gas fireplace for heat and TV with Firestick (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

Bathroom with clawfoot tub and our fave Dead Sea bath salts provided.

Queen firm bed with memory topper, linen sheets, and down comforter with cotton duvet cover. All the extra blankets you might want — both wool and fur!

Vintage and powerful O'Keefe and Merritt stove in kitchen as well as full size fridge. Pour over coffee, old school coffee maker, electric kettle, Nutr nut milk machine, as well as all your cooking basics. Herb garden outside kitchen with sage, rosemary — help yourself! Dining spot for two in kitchen as well as outside in garden.

Rare unlimited street parking on our block. You will usually find a spot right in front of the house. Across the street is 14 acre Bushrod Park with huge grassy field and pickleball courts.

The apartment is partially subgrade so it stays warm in winter with the help of the fireplace and deliciously naturally cool in summer. Ceilings are a bit lower than usual at 7 1/2 feet - not ideal for those over 6ft tall (showering may be difficult in the clawfoot conversion) but great for others. No shoes are worn upstairs or in your apartment for your comfort and cleanliness.

Guest access
Private and separate first floor garden apartment with separate entrances from the street and into the space, that you will access with your own key. The gardens and yard will be private for you during your stay. The layout of the property is such that we may never see each other!

Other things to note
No smoking (of anything) or shoes are allowed inside the apartment. You can smoke outside.

This is a quiet family neighborhood — we want for our guests to both enjoy and preserve the peacefulness!

We've lived in Bushrod for over 25 years - it's a place you know, love, and don't want to leave. It is a racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse neighborhood that is now rapidly gentrifying with many artists and families and such convenient access to all the resources you could want. Great restaurant options within a few blocks (Ethiopian, Thai, gourmet pizza) and numerous amazing options within a 5 min drive or 20 min walk. The infamous Berkeley Bowl and Whole Foods groceries are a 15 min walk or 5 min drive, Trader Joe’s 6 min drive and 15 min walk away. Bushrod is very central to everything and adjacent to the more known Rockridge and Temescal neighborhoods. We're 9 blocks south of the Berkeley border so you get the best of both worlds.
