Once the village brewery, our beautiful centrally heated cottage is the perfect base to explore the New Forest and the Solent. If you fancy a day at home you can just laze in the garden - and our brilliant local pub is just a stroll up the road. Like to cook? The kitchen has everything you'll need. And the cosy living room has a log stove for those chilly autumn evenings. It's just four miles to Romsey for a choice of supermarkets and shops. And we're on site to sort out any problems.

The space

We've over an acre of country garden which you're welcome to use - but we do ask that you confine operations to the top lawn until after half past nine in the morning and after six at night.

Guest access

Guests have total use of The Brewhouse bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living room, and patio. There's off road parking on the driveway outside. They may also use the gardens - although we do ask that parts of them remain private at certain times of the day.

Interaction with guests

We're just down the drive in the annexe - so if there's anything you need to know or any problem just come and knock on the door.

Other things to note

The Brewhouse is fairly compact, so only has one loo, which is upstairs. The separate bathroom has a reduced length bath - it was the only way to to get one in ... but if you're too tall to fit in it don't worry there's also a shower!

We describe the garden as a country garden - which means there is the odd nettle and bramble. Don't worry, there's plenty of nicely cut lawn to lay out on - and if you're feeling really active Chrissie might let you borrow her croquet set!

The Hatchet Inn serves a fine pint and does excellent food. You'll find plenty of locals there. As well as the normal menu Tuesdays and Thursdays are 'two for one steak nights' and tend to be extra busy - it's always advisable to nip up and book in with Liz the landlady if you want to eat.

Please read the welcome file when you arrive - there are one or two health and safety things you need to be aware of - and other 'stuff' in there we hope you'll find generally helpful.

Our lovely neighbours James and Amelia, who live in the house in the corner, are fairly close as their garden adjoins The Brewhouse - so if you're out on the patio of an evening, or have the telly on inside, we'd ask you to be reasonably restrained noisewise!

We're very proud of the Brewhouse and do our very best to have it spick and span when you arrive. And of course once we've said goodbye to you we'll be busy turning the cottage round ready for the next guests - so we do appreciate it when things are left reasonably clean and tidy!

Oh, and one last thing we're very strict about - it's very important that you enjoy your stay!

Great house and Chris is on hand if you need anything. Lovely pub next door.

An exemplary home which was even better than the photos suggest. It's ideally located for exploring the New Forest or as we did, a day with the family at Paultons Park. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Everything is available for your convenience, and the house is decorated subtly and to match the surrounding countryside. The kitchen and lounge are a very good size for a family to relax, and the bedrooms, 2 good size double rooms and a good size single are very comfortable. The hosts are unobtrusive, but available to help and offer assistance if needed. A perfect stay. 5 stars truly warranted and we will definitely be back.

Lovely house, very clean, high spec all round. Very friendly and efficient hosts living in other property in same grounds; happy to help and chat. Beautiful garden / wooded area to explore. Great local pub about 30 seconds walk away.

We had a wonderful stay in the Brewhouse. Excellent communication from Chris leading up to our stay. House was clean and tidy and had everything we needed (4 adults and 1 infant). Loved exploring the New Forest. Many thanks.

Beautiful house and gardens. Very close to Peppa Pig Land!! Only 10 mins away!! Chris was brilliant, very accommodating! The house was very well equipped, and brilliant with four young children. The garden was lovely and the children loved seeing the stream and playing on the grass. The pub up the road has a enclosed play area for the children, so ideally for a drink! Will defiantly by booking a stay again soon.

Chris and Chrissie were lovely hosts. Great communication and the place was just as described. In a good location; a great base for day trips to lots of pretty villages. There were 5 of us but we had plenty of space both within and outside the house. Blessed with good weather as well so we made use of sitting outside. Thanks very much and we hope to visit again.
