This is a beautiful 16 ft canvas Bell Tent surrounded by forest in a wild canyon with multiple creeks and hiking trails. The creek is just down the hill from the tent site. It has everything you need including a queen size bed with all of the bedding, lanterns and candles, and places to relax inside and outside. Downtown Grass Valley is a 7 minute drive away. Behind the tent there is a bath house with a hot shower, a composting toilet, and a space to prepare meals with a stove and small fridge.

The space

No WIFI is available. We provide two extra sleeping mats if you have a party of 4 but do not provide the linens or pillows for the two extra people.

We live on a 3 acre property on the edge of beautiful woodpecker canyon which is up in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside the towns of Grass Valley (7 min drive) and Nevada City (12 min drive). Many people consider Nevada City to be the most beautiful and quaint small town in California, and Grass Valley to be the second. Both Nevada City and Grass Valley have an incredible selection of creative and quality restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and shops.

There are places to do every kind of mountain and fresh water sport within our vicinity being that some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the state are surrounding us, and we are so close to the high sierra. The Yuba and Bear rivers are a 20 min drive, Rollins Lake is a 15 min drive, and we are a 45 min drive from the high Sierra Nevada. We also have great wineries and wine tasting in the area. Lucchesi winery is just up the street from us.

The bath house is located just behind the bell tent site and it has electricity for charging phones and for using the stove and fridge. There are solar lights along the path that help illuminate the walk from the tent at night. The bell tent itself does not have electricity but is very comfortable for hanging out and reading with strong LED and a kerosene lantern. There is a hiking trail which starts at the glamping site and switchbacks down to our creek and beyond where it connects to many other trails in woodpecker canyon. There is a private hang out area with comfortable lounge chairs down in the forest by the creek which the trail will directly take you to. There is a beautiful fire pit outside of the tent with chopped wood and a metal grill if you want to cook over it or just have a camp fire. We have two camping mats available in addition to the queen size bed that can be for two more adults or two children as well as a pack & play crib available for a baby.

The bath house has an electric stove, a few pots and pans, utensils, bowls, small plates, cups, wine glasses, ground coffee, and a french press.
The door to the bell tent has a mosquito net but please bring mosquito protection and extra layers if you want to be on the porch around sunset in JULY.

Guest access

Private parking is available about 50 ft easy stroll from the tent.

Interaction with guests

We are always available in our home on the property for any questions or needs. You can knock on our front door.

Other things to note

Please be aware of our two year old son as you pull your car in or out of the parking area. AT&T gets pretty good cell service at the tent site but most other carriers are not as strong. Look out for poison oak when hiking in the canyon and stick to the trails!

Lovely little spot, my favorite part were the deer coming right into the campsite. The bathhouse was perfect for my need and it was great having firewood ready for me. Perfect mix of camping without having to rough it - Thank you!

Jillie, Dane, and their boys were incredibly welcoming hosts and warm, friendly people. The tent was cozy and comfortable, the kitchen and bath area very clean and well-stocked, and the hospitality was outstanding. Our toddler loved playing by the creek and running all around. The property and location are ideal for exploring Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the surrounding areas. We especially enjoyed the outside 4-person table and the fire pit with plenty of nice, dry firewood. Highly recommended!

We had a great time at the yurt -- it was remarkably hot but the evenings were very pleasant. We spent our days hiking in the nearby national parks, swimming in the Yuba River, and grabbing some food in Grass Valley. Even though it was hot during the day, it was pleasant enough to even have a fire in the late evening. Very quiet and peaceful, highly recommend!

Jillie and Dane have a lovely space set up. Completely private, equipped with a fire pit, walking trail, all your essential needs; including dinning supplies, sugar, etc. The ambience is very inviting and even with a touch of romance. We loved our stay. Jillie and Dane were also very helpful with our questions and quick to reply when we had them. I would definitely stay again!

Great tent set up...large space with ample room to walk around. Also, could accommodate extra people on the floor space easily. The bath house is a nice addition when camping!
