The space
The Old School House was built as the village school in 1823, and later became the Schoolmaster’s house in 1855, when a new school was built next door. David and Shelagh have completely renovated this Georgian property to create a cosy, welcoming home with many original features and all modern conveniences.
There are beautiful views of Scawfell and Wasdale from the rear, and over Ravenglass to Black Coombe at the front. Set back from the road, it's the perfect place to chill and relax after a busy day.

Where you’ll be

Drigg, England, United Kingdom

Drigg is a quiet village, ideal if you want to get away from tourist hotspots. There are pleasant walks from our front door, and the magnificent beach is only a few minutes away. The West Coast Rail line is spectacularly beautiful as it crosses estuaries to the south, heading for Lancaster, and clings to cliffsides to the north en route for historic Carlisle. We are close to several award-winning golf courses, freshwater and sea fishing, riding and cycle hire companies – and of course there are many miles of fells and forests to explore within a short drive. We can advise on all of these to make your stay particularly memorable.

David and I love cooking and entertaining, and sharing our home in this beautiful corner of the world. We enjoy meeting people of all nationalities, ages and creeds - regardless of your background, you are welcome in our home.
We can't live without laughter, good food, good wine, good music, and walks on the beach; we escape to Amsterdam at least once a year as it's our ideal chill zone, and we're independent travellers, so we're looking forward to sharing your travel tips.
Our life motto? Life is too short to waste time on negativity.
