About this listing

Millstream Dairy is tucked away on a quiet side street with private parking in the heart of bustling Cheddar. Newly renovated, in a modern yet classic style, the Dairy is a welcoming and spacious self contained wing of our family home. It has its own entrance, secure storage for bikes and wet weather gear. A well stocked rustic kitchen adjoins an inviting sitting room with wood burner and a balcony overlooking the garden. This really is a home from home.

The space

We moved into Millstream House in 2015 and began a huge renovation project. It’s finally complete and we’ve filled it with loving details that we hope will make your stay really special. It’s been exciting for us and we cannot wait to share our home and welcome you to Mill Stream Dairy.

On arrival you will find ample parking and your own entrance approach via a traditional dairy door which leads into the cloakroom/hall via a secure bike storage and utility room. A large ordinance map of the area greets you so you can plan all those adventures in the Mendips! Continue up the stairs to the light and airy sitting room which has access to your own private balcony overlooking the garden where you can relax and enjoy a nice cup of tea. Two large sofas provide ample seating, a TV, woodburner (logs provided) a radio, and games and books for your entertainment. Traditional details such as the stone doorway and the old pine rug box, together with the pleasant aspect of trees and garden make this a peaceful and homely place to relax.

The kitchen is a favourite of ours, rustic yet modern, with warm colours and traditional wooden cabinets. Atmospheric lighting, a large oak table, old storage crates add to the rustic feel but all the mod cons are provided too! There is an efficient gas oven with 4 hobs, a microwave, toaster, fridge, kettle and all the crockery/cutlery you will require.

There are two peaceful bedrooms in calming colours with crisp bedding, generous throws, ample storage, gentle lighting and soft carpets. Both bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms with stylish travertine tiling and powerful showers – much appreciated after those active days in the surrounding hills!

We are sure you will enjoy The Dairy and the beautiful surrounding area as much as we do.

Guest access

There is a gated parking area with parking for 2 cars or more and the Dairy has its own entrance. We will try to greet you on arrival if, however, we are away for any reason or we are already ‘tucked up in bed’ we will provide you with self check in details.

Interaction with guests

You have the Dairy to yourselves with your own access and balcony-Please feel at home and we hope you have a wonderful and memorable stay. We share the parking area and our front door is next to yours so, as I am a full time mum and around quite a bit, we may well meet each other on the doorstep. Please call on us if you need any help or advice.

The neighbourhood

We are keen cyclists and love the outdoors, so appreciate the best thing about the Dairy’s location. Tucked away on a quiet street you have access to wonderful walks, climbs and bike rides - right on the doorstep. We have discovered some great routes and will happily recommend our favourite local haunts for you to explore. Within 10 minutes you can be on the West Mendip way and can be in the heart of the gorge in less than 5 minutes! Cheddar itself has plenty of local shops, cafes and pubs with easy access to Glastonbury, Bristol and Wells.

Getting around

Once here you can discover many places without having to use your car again. There are regular buses from the village and a train station in nearby Yatton.

Other things to note

The Dairy is adjoining our home and a locked door separates the two spaces, so you may be able to hear the occasional background noise. We live here with our dog Alfie, a very well behaved and friendly lurcher and our 10 month old son Charlie.
