About this listing

Small, pet-friendly, house that overlooks the lake. Very quiet area. Near highest point in PA and isolated lake loaded with fish. Numerous hikes and geocaches nearby. Close to Pittsburgh to DC bike trail, rivers of all intensities, and loads of festivals throughout the year. Its a hidden gem.

The space

All amenities are here. Fantastic kitchen and charcoal barbecue on the deck. This house was designed to be quaint, with all needs covered. Very roomy for 4 but can easily sleeps 6. In a pinch, 2 extras could fit on the couch. Pets are welcome inside and deck also has a latched gate.

The mountains block TV reception and most cell phone reception is sketchy. All rooms except the office have streaming capabilities and Netflix. Renters can use home phone to make and receive US calls if necessary. Also, there is an external hard drive loaded with movies and music that can play in all rooms with TVs.

We set the rates to be affordable and rely on our guests to take care of the place to the best of their ability. For groups of 2 we cut the cleaning fee in half to adjust for the low impact.

Guest access

This home is yours. Small touches are designed to make the home interesting but there is very little personal stuff set aside in off-limit areas.

Interaction with guests

Information will be provided on how to work the equipment, along with maps of the area. Specific information can be given if requested. I will be available only by cell phone.

Other things to note

This is a pet friendly house and those with dog allergies might not want to stay here. We have 2 dogs and there are dog beds in most rooms. The deck has a latch and we hope owners clean up after them. To ensure all renovations stay in good shape, we add $10.00/day per dog fee, with a maximum of $50- each/week. If you think your pet requires an exception, please discuss it.

Perfect location to sit out on the deck and take in the view. Loved that the deck could be gated so that the dogs were contained. Great house. Super beds! Audrey was extremely nice and considerate. Lots to do in the area. Audrey has wifi at her place but cell service is limited in the area.

You won't regret renting this place! Audrey, the host was awesome. It was very easy to communicate with her during the whole process. The only regret we had was staying for only 2 nights. There wasn't enough time to see and enjoy the area. The house was very homey and equipped with everything you need for a great getaway. Even our furry friend said so :-). Our dog had a blast running up and down the hills. We were also able to take him hiking at a place called "Ohiopyle". It was a great place to take your dogs for a scenic hike and a water fall experience. The house was also overlooking a lake although we weren't able to go to the lake by foot from the house because the bushes were dense and we had a pregnant woman with us. Maybe we just didn't follow the direction correctly. We did successfully reach the lake by car, it was about 2 miles from the house. The lake was beautiful. You can fish, ride a canoe (if you bring one), we didn't but enjoying the gorgeous sunset was more than enough for us. If you also love to cook like me, this is the place for you. The selection of available spices and cooking and baking equipment was very impressive. The pantry was a chef's paradise, stocked with different spices, condiments and ingredients for gourmet cooking. On our last night, we experimented with Ziti and clam sauce and goat cheese and it turned out really good! Anyway, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect getaway

Response from Audrey:
Hi Julie, The bushes get high about this time of year. I should make sure everyone knows that. I would love to buy the property across the street just to keep as a field. Maybe I can cut a path. I'll talk to the owner. Thanks for reminding me. Audrey

My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet place to unplug and hide from the world for a couple days & it's hard to imagine finding a much better spot than Audrey's for that. It's super quiet. For the most part the only sounds you hear are the -- at times cacophonous -- birds. The lake across the way prohibits power boats it seems, so you don't even hear the whine of engines. It's also very private. There are a couple neighbors but they're relatively far away (at least by my city-slicker standards) and completely out of site so it's really easy to feel completely secluded. The house is comfortable and homey and very well equipped. Literally every time we thought of something useful we were able to quickly find it. And lastly there's that view. That spectacular view. Pictures don't do it justice. But sitting on the deck, watching that lake and listening to those birds is first-rate relaxation material. We're already talking about trying to go back in the fall to see the colors on those hills.
