The space

Newly stylish and renovated villa situated in a peaceful and panoramic cliff over the Zinzulusa Cave, Castro, Salento, Lecce, South of Italy.
Castro is named “the pearl of the Salento region”: the crystal clear “bandiera blu” water, the history of the old town castle and the magnificent bay quickly explain the reason of this name.
The villa has been renovated in the respect of the original builder's idea (my father) and of the local materials and traditions. It overlook the sea from a 40 meters cliff and has a private way down to the sea (not really comfortable with babies, but doable for adults)

The villa consists in three completely separated and independent apartments, divided by two doors.
Locking these two doors the three apt can be rented separately.
The independence and privacy of customers is guaranteed for each apartment.
The villa can also be rented in the whole; in this case we can just unlock those two doors, and the whole villa is available for one big family or group of friends.
In this case the total capacity of the villa is 18 persons.

The main floor apt is a piece of art and beauty.
2 bedroom, two bathroom, one kitchen, a main leaving and a sitting room connected together.
The most important and impressive part of this apt is the sea-view terrace: covered with natural bamboo canes, it ensure shadow and relax during the heat of the day and protection from chilly evenings. Equipped with a 3 meters aluminium table, it is ready for fresh and sunny breakfast (the exposition of the terrace is EAST), nice lunch, and unforgettable dinners!
Moreover, near the kitchen and the terrace we organized a barbecue area with wood and tools ready to be used.
The master bedroom is in the mountain side of the house, quiet and fresh in the summer: it has a private bathroom.
The other bedroom is for the kids, and there are 2 bunk beds. Again this room i in the mountain side.
In the charming sea view sitting room, there is a sofa-bed.
In the sitting room the working fireplace is a unique piece: it is mainly build over a 2 tons stone coming from a local cave. In the sitting room you can find the stairs that lead to the basement, in an original disposition, enriched with some local art piece.
The main room is dominated by another unique piece of art: a 3 meters olive wood table, for a total of 12 seats, with a huge window-door over the sea-view terrace.
The total capacity of this apt is 8 persons.
The apartment is fully equipped with built-in wardrobes, TV, WIFI, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave and fridge.
The set of dishes is handmade in the tradition of the Salento ceramic, and it is made for our house.

This apartment is perfectly organized with a kitchen, a bathroom, one bedroom and a main room with an outside sea-view area shadowed by an huge umbrella for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The main room is equipped with a sofa-bed and with extensible-table and chairs that can also be used outside.
The bedroom is equipped with a bunk bed, and a sofa-bed.

NOTE: the pool is available from Mai to September

there is a Barbecue area but it is reserved to the Main Apt

there is enough space to park up to 5 cars, in the garden

A group of 10 of us rented Sergio's villa for two weeks this summer - and had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful with a stunning view of the sea; there is tonnes of rooms and plenty of bathrooms so people can have their own space. The pool is small but fine to cool down in, and lots of people enjoyed swimming in the sea from the rocks at the end of the garden path. Castro itself is a lovely, charming little village with a couple of restaurants and cafes and a marina with boat and canoe hire. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. I wish I was still there now!!

Sergio's house is amazing. Everything worked as expected or even better. The house is so functional, we were really comfortable. The cliff is amazing, we went down several times and were able to swim, unique experience. I really hope we could come back again future in the future.

We stayed at Sergio's beautiful house for a couple of weeks and just absolutely loved everything about it We had both the top and bottom apartments and it worked so well having our friends to stay one week and and our extended family the next. We just loved the location, so quiet and also with the private sea swimming below. I termed it the biggest private swimming pool in the world! We swam every day and even when it was a little windy the plunge pool on top of the cliff was just the ticket. The house is stunning, large and so comfortable and well set up. We also loved Castro and the ability to walk up to the old village every day, enjoy a coffee or drink in the local piazza. Also getting to know the lovely locals in the mercato and other local shops for supplies. For a relaxing stay put in Italy on the coast you couldn't find better. Santa Maria de Leuca in the south is only 45 minutes along a delightful coast road and Otranto in the north is a mere 25 minutes away. Also the delightful small beaches and coves for swimming along the way! So much to explore and enjoy! Dealing with Sergio was so easy and he answered all our queries within minutes it seemed, even though we were on the other side of the world when we started communicating by email. We will be going back!! Thank you Sergio and we'd love to return the favour by hosting you and your beautiful family in New Zealand sometime!

Our family spent seven nights and rented the whole villa. Saying we were happy with our stay would be An understatement. It was amazing the water was amazing and Castro was worth a return trip in the future. The house was roomy and very private. Sergio was helpful and easy to communicate with (and we spoke VERY little Italian) we will come back.

The Villa is located halfway Castro old town and the Zinzulusa cave: the 1st is easily reachable with a 10-mins walk uphill, while the 2nd can be accessed easily by feet or from the sea. Sergio didn't greet us personally, but he was very warm and available to give us advices before the holiday, and to wish us a pleasant trip back on the leaving day: so here we are! The house is an authentic masterpiece, with natural rock floor everywhere, on 2 levels: as a group of 10 young friends, we could easily fit and feel very comfortable in each of the 5 rooms. Main kitchen's well equipped with 2 fridges, 1 dishwasher, 1 washing machine, a big oven and an ice machine - there's basically everything you need, and more. Bathrooms (4) are well designed and very rustic, as such a house commands. There's a big patio outside the top floor: spot for unforgettable breakfasts in front of the sunrise and dinners all together. In one of the house's corners, there's a BBQ to grill meat and fish. Downhill a few steps, walking through the garden, you get to the second terrace: the swimming pool's one. Despite being not so big (huge Jacuzzi size), it could easily accommodate all of us. And here we come to the area we liked the most: the sea access. Now, being all of us much into diving from cliffs, Sergio's house offered a amazing fun park, just 3 mins down the villa. Bring some sneakers with you and the walk will be comfortable. As said before, from his small dock you can also swim towards the Zinzulusa cave. Wifi is very powerful and the house comes with 2 Bluetooth radios, one of which is waterproof and can be hence used also around the pool. Only two small cons, but understandable given the size and the position of the house: water pressure is low, so you may have very few water flowing from the showers if all the 4 bathrooms are in use. You can also experience blackouts if several appliances are working at the same time - but no need of many lights under the beautiful Salento stars

We are a couple of italians, and we lived in Paris in this apt for three years. We are sharing our nest with our guests since 2002. We hope you'll take care of it as it would be yours, and we wish this apt to be your home in Paris!!!
