The space
There are two yurts - Ty Crwn Bach Idris sleeping max 4 guests and Ty Crwn Mawr sleeping max 7 guests.
Please see detailed information for Ty Crwn Mawr at https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/18817924 and for Ty Crwn Bach Idris at https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/7082871.
Ty Crwn Bach Idris is a very comfortable yurt with spectacular views which can easily accommodate four people. It has a double bed and a double sofa bed. It is beautifully furnished with lovely linens, wall hangings, rugs and fairy lights creating a warm and magical space.
There is a wood burning stove in the yurt which heats up the space very quickly and is perfect for boiling the kettle for a warming cuppa or making a pan of tasty soup/stew. All pots/pans, crockery and cutlery, mugs and glasses are provided. We simply ask that you wash them before you leave.
The yurt is light and airy with a clear round glass opening window in the roof and a south facing stable door to help keep things cool on sunny days and hot summer nights. The floor and walls are insulated so it's toasty even in the coldest of winters.
The covered deck outside the yurt provides somewhere sheltered to sit and enjoy the BBQ or the fire pit, although there are grassy areas to use if you would prefer.
In keeping with the ethos of our home, we have tried to use reclaimed/recycled/up cycled materials wherever possible.
There is also a BBQ and a fire pit. So hey....collect some wood from the forest and light a fire....you are glamping after all!!!
There are standard electrical sockets in the yurt and low energy lighting there and in the bathroom/kitchen which all run off renewable energy sources. So by staying in Ty Crwn Bach Idris you will be doing your bit to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.
Ty Crwn Mawr is a very comfortable yurt with spectacular views which can easily accommodate six people. It has a king size bed and four single futon beds and a couple of chairs. It is beautifully furnished with lovely linens, wall hangings, rugs and fairy lights creating a warm and magical space.
Right next to the yurt are an outside cooking area, compost toilet and outdoor shower cubicle. There is a secluded seating area and fire pit/BBQ to the south of the yurt.

The log cabin near the yurts contains a full kitchen (including gas cooker, electric fridge, toaster, sink with hot and cold water), dining area and shower room with power shower, flushing toilet and sink. If you'd like to experience real eco living then a compost loo is also available along with an outdoor cooking area and shower cubicle. The log cabin facilities may be occasionally used by us as well but generally only if we've run out of hot water at the house!

Weather conditions: Please note that on the fairly infrequent occasions that the temperature drops below zero for more than a few of days the water supply to the cabin may start to freeze and we might then have to drain the system to prevent damage to pipes/fittings and the water heater. We have 'winterised' the plumbing but if the temperature seriously drops below zero for an extended period then there won't be much we can do. We will be able to supply water in containers for drinking, cooking and washing and the compost loo will still be fully functional. We are up at 400m so if there is heavy and persistent snowfall, access to the property from the village one mile away may only be possible on foot or in a 4x4 vehicle. It's all part of the adventure!!!
If you need assistance with anything just ask. We are here to help and glad to do so. :-)
Guest access
The yurts are set well apart from the main house, about 50m. The log cabin kitchen/dining room/bathroom next to the yurts.
You will have your privacy but we are only too happy to chat, help, spend time, advise on places to go, things to do, where to walk etc. Apparently we are very approachable!
If you would like to try your hand at chopping your own wood or joining in whilst we work on the vegetable garden you will be most welcome.
Feel free to play guitars, drums, or to sing your heart out if you are musically inclined. Enjoy the space and the feeling of freedom.
You are welcome to quietly enjoy the land, sit by the pond and generally make yourselves at home. If we are enjoying our private spaces or in our garden please do be mindful of us in terms of noise levels and our privacy. Especially if you are bringing kids with you!! We are up for having some fun and if you ask us we’ll generally be happy for you to hang out with us but sometimes we like our own space too.
Other things to note
On the North Berwyn Way walking route. We have OS maps covering the whole of North Wales and along with some walking guidebooks these can be borrowed if you leave us a small returnable deposit.
Fresh spring fed water supply
Fully powered by renewable energy - 230v in the yurt and cabin
Sustainable wood powered heating
Hot shower
WiFi available
Two toilets: One flushing toilet in the log cabin and one separating compost toilet for the big yurt....gentlemen...please sit down to pee!!
Towels and hand soap are provided. Due to everyones requirements being different, we don't provide shampoo or body soap.
Washing up liquid, tea towels, dish cloths are provided.
Bed linen, pillows and duvets are supplied for all beds as required. There are an abundance of cushions.
Eggs from the free range chickens may be available when they are laying and we haven't already eaten them!
There is a barbeque as well as a fire pit outside for cooking on and sitting around of an evening.
A bucket of logs and kindling suitable for the stove/firepit will be waiting for you. More can be purchased or you can forage in the forest yourselves for wood! Just watch out for the Berwyn big cat..... ;-)
Pans, crockery, cutlery, mugs, glasses etc all provided but we do ask that you wash up and leave them clean as you found them on your arrival.
Wet wipes and single use plastic bottles (specifically water) are banned on site. Please consider our environment and purchase a multi-use water bottle.
Do bring your own torches/lamps for use outside the yurt and matches/lighter to light the stove/bbq/fire pit/gas hob. You will need to supply your own charcoal for the BBQ or if you request it in advance we can arrange that for you.
There are low energy lights in the yurt and the kitchen/toilet and 230v power socket for phones or computers. WiFi is provided at no extra cost but due to our very rural location the internet can sometimes be a bit temperamental!
A well behaved and fully house trained puppy/dog(s) will be allowed by prior arrangement and agreement only. There will be an extra charge of £5/night/dog which will be taken care of by altering the reservation. There are further terms and conditions that you will need your agreement. DO NOT BOOK UNTIL YOU HAVE OBTAINED OUR EXPRESS AGREEMENT TO BRING YOUR DOG(S).
No traditional or noisy ‘stag’ or ‘hen’ parties!! If you are wanting to hold a quiet and respectful ‘hen’, ’stag' or birthday celebration then we will consider that but you will need to inform us and discuss prior to booking. Respectful and considerate use of the spaces is welcomed.
Noise levels to be minimised after 11pm. Prior to that, singing, acoustic instruments or a little low level amplified music is fine (small bluetooth speaker etc) providing you OK it with the other guests and with us beforehand. If it’s disturbing anyone then it’ll have to stop. No partying or amplified music in the cabin unless you are renting the whole site (both yurts).
Please note that this is a working smallholding and regular work on and maintenance of the structures, buildings, land and gardens is required...particularly in the Summer. Most of this work is not intrusive and you won’t even know we are doing it. We try to do ensure that noisier jobs like strimming and mowing are carried out when no guests are on the property but that isn't always possible. We ask your understanding if we have to carry out this type of unavoidable work whilst you are on site.
As well as being a retreat centre, this is our home, and sometimes we like to have a fire outside and play a little bit of music, sing or get the drums out. You are welcome to come and join in or if we are disturbing you, please do come and let us know. There may occasionally be noise coming from our workshop, log shed or forge...but this will be kept to a minimum and we will always warn you when it's about to happen....we all need to make a living don't we!
An AirBnB security deposit is required. This is to cover any damage that you might cause during your stay. No monies will be taken from you unless we initiate the process during or after your stay and we will communicate with you to discuss the matter first.

Neighbourhood highlights
Ty Crwn Bach Idris and Ty Crwn Mawr nestle in a forest high up above Cynwyd in the beautiful Berwyn Mountains, North Wales, midway between Bala and Llangollen, not far off the the A5 London to Holyhead road.
The property sits 400m up in the Cynwyd Forest, on the edge of the Dee Valley AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). We are right on the North Berwyn Way walking route.
Whilst only a mile from the village there are no other properties nearby and the Berwyn Mountains extend to the North, East and South as you step outside. Brilliant for walking, hiking, mountain biking and just chilling with nature.
Bala lake is only 12 miles away and Snowdonia and the coast less than an hour. Manchester and Liverpool are under an hour and a half away.
The mountains of Snowdonia can be seen from the yurt with the Arans and Arenigs nearly on the doorstep and the Rhinogs in the distance. Walk 50m up the hill and you will see the top of Yr Wyddfa (Mt Snowdon) peaking of the hills in the distance. There's rock climbing of all types and all abilities near us in North Wales along with a good selection of indoor climbing walls.
The majestic River Dee flows through Cynwyd on its way to Chester and there is plenty of fishing in the area.
North Wales is world renowned for its fantastic mountain biking and the Llandegla Forest tracks are less than 25 minutes away. Coed-y-Brenin over near Betws y Coed is also close by.
If water sports are you thing you are well served with heaps of sailing, kayaking and canoeing within easy reach. We know world class coaches, instructors and outdoor pursuits organisations and can put you in touch with them if you want.
Surfing, kite-surfing, wind surfing, stand up paddle boarding can be found on the coast which is an easy drive away.
Enjoy!!!
