Experience this truly unique and authentic mountain home, nestled on a cliff near Telluride. At 25 minutes from Telluride, and under an hour to Ouray you'll find everything Colorado has to offer right outside your door. This spacious and inviting San Juan mountain retreat is just 7 miles down from great hiking and the gorgeous Jeep trail "Last Dollar Road". Enjoy vast mountain vistas, scenic river trails, and incredible weekend festivals all summer long in this wonderful home with valley views.
With a loft above the master bedroom and two lofts over the living room, this spacious home can always handle extra guests in the common areas. It will comfortably sleep 3 couples in their own spaces (2 in master, 2 in 2nd bedroom, and 2 on the queen futon in the main loft) or 10+ people using couches and air mattresses in the lofts and common area. While the listing allows 10 people I'm open to hosting more for special occasions if you speak with me.
The entire home is listed, but be aware I have a tenant and her dog in the ground floor studio. She has her own entrance, but it is an attached part of the house.
The main living area is abound with personal touches like the locally sourced tree trunks incorporated into the structure itself. Almost every floor is heated for cold nights, as well as getting some help from the cozy Tulikivi soap stone fireplace with complimentary firewood. The kitchen and bathrooms feature tile floors, rock walls, and even a mosaic sink surround in the common bathroom. Master bath includes a jacuzzi tub that can probably fit 2, though I've never tried. You'll enjoy mountain and valley views from every room through large expanses of windows. The kitchen island features a wood block cutting board surface with custom cutout hiding granite work station.
The house (mostly off grid) is on a well and a septic tank so I request that guests please be considerate of water use especially in larger groups. The drinking water, while from a well, is superb, so no need for bottled water.
The whole home is yours to enjoy. The well water room and shed have some personal items, which I trust you'll respect.
Interaction with guests
I work most evenings as a cook for Allreds, the restaurant at the top of the Telluride gondola. I can take calls, provide assistance, and even show you around or share a drink anytime I'm not working.
Other things to note
This multi-level house is built on a small cliff above a steep 900 foot valley, so there are a few challenges. While kids (and somewhat inebriated individuals) are welcome, it is important to understand the serious consequences of being careless while playing around both outside and inside the house. Also the 1.5 mile winding dirt road coming to the house is 2 directional and quite steep at times, all while bordering some good drop offs, so make sure your driver is sober and not afraid of heights.
- 420 Friendly
- Be considerate of water usage
I'm an avid outdoorsman and have a passion for cooking.
I moved here for the off road trails and the excellent ski resort, and neither have disappointed.

If you need any recommendations or even want a guide, feel free to ask.
I'm pretty easy. If you want to be left alone to enjoy your stay, you won't even know I'm in town. If you want to hang out with a local while you're here, I'm readily available.
