Interaction with guests

Happy to spend as much or as little time offering advise on area as they desire.

Other things to note

This is a remote location very safe and picture perfect. You do need high clearance vehicle to take pinto canyon road 2810 route south from Marfa or to Ruidosa the right or west for 4.5 miles house is on the right box 12481. Take note the drive down pinto canyon is worth the extra cost of larger high clearance vehicle if your renting but we do not advise taking it at night no danger it's just nerve racking and the point is the views. Otherwise the drive is a state highway all paved From Marfa take 67 to Presidio then 37 miles west on Farm road 170 to small town of Ruidosa proceed 4.5 miles to sign saying MARFA LAND and CATTLE CO. On your right. The river road is a great drive out most likely will see game and roaming cattle and horses and native inhabitants. You can book day use of a pool in Ruidosa as well hikes, river rafting, Jeep tours thru. Angell Expeditions(URL HIDDEN)WE DO NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING PINTO CANYON ROAD AT NIGHT )

Be nice. We also ask that due to the remote location you please take your trash with you. Both Presidio and Marfa have large community dumpsters on most ever street so it's very simple to drop it on the way out. Thank you kindly.

Michael's home on the mountaintop is truly a unique and "once-in-a-lifetime" experience! Hopefully an experience we will experience again very soon… :-) The drive from Marfa through the Pinto Canyon is not to be missed! The home is beautifully laid out and truly has 360° views. You can see the storms forming and moving towards you from Mexico for a couple of hours before they arrive! We brought our mountain bikes, (with puncture proof tires!) and bicycled the trails behind the house into the desert. Stunning! The night skies are dazzling with virtually no light pollution. Truly a lovely experience on the edge of the world!

Pictures don't do it justice. The panoramic views are breathtaking, as are the stars at night. The house is stylish and comfortable. Pro-tip, out door showers in the desert air awesome. Michael was very helpful. And having wifi in the middle of the desert is a real treat. Add at least an extra day to your trip to just lounge around the house and hike the property. That ended up being my favorite part of the trip! Heads up, it can be hot. We used the outdoor swamp coolers to drop the temp in the bedrooms. The road up to the house is steep-ish, so just be ready. It is not a quick trip to Marfa, but it is a beautiful drive. We would wake up with the sunrise, spend the day in Marfa, and then come back before dark to enjoy the sunset and stars. Would definitely come back!

There's so much to say here. This was the most fantastic Airbnb stay I've had thus far in many years of using this service. This house is in a stunning location right on the border with Mexico, between two ranges of mountains. The house itself is obviously lovely. Minimalist, very Marfa. There aren't many pictures here of the interior rooms, but you can rest assured that they're all peaceful and well-decorated. As I am a fairly anxious traveler, I think there are some details that I would have liked to know, so I will include those here: I would not DARE take that unpaved road -- the shorter route from Marfa -- unless I had a Jeep and a love of off-roading. That road looked serious. I'm sure that's fun for some people, but I would have had 10 heart attacks. The road leading up to the house is pretty crazy itself. Gravel, steep drop-offs. It's fine, just a little daunting. Cows will stop you on your journey. If you honk at them, they think you're trying to feed them. Just gently move them along. The winds up here are really intense, and I've lived through hurricanes. It's an experience I will never forget. I imagine if you or a child is easily frightened by noises at night, you might want to bring earplugs or something to soothe you. Even with all the glass doors shut, the whole house whistles and rattles. I had not fully prepared for 100-degree heat. Yes, of course it's the desert, but I had checked Marfa's weather forecast and it looked mild. Well, guess what, there's about a 20-30 degree difference because this place is not near Marfa. Watch the weather for Ruidosa instead. With all of those windows, even open, the extreme heat was magnified and stayed in the house until around 2 a.m. It was very uncomfortable for us, we just couldn't get any relief. While the area is remote, you may be comforted to know there's a general store just five miles down the road. And a tiny town that you'll see at night, Candelaria, which has a pretty sad history and present. We'd heard there was an old church down there, but it has since blown/washed away. Bring all manner of moisturizers and sunscreens and hats and sunglasses. Bring groceries and a meal plan because you're not going anywhere. We didn't see any strange insects or animals. We felt safe. You really won't regret staying in this great house, as long as you prepare for a long drive, lots of heat and winds you've probably never felt before.

Do you love to be in nature, but love pampering accommodations too.... Book Michael's place and you'll never want to leave. Peaceful, breathtaking 360 degree views, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds, and the sound of nothing but the wind... We will be back to Michael's magical place as soon as possible.

Staying in Michael's Texas high desert home will leave you wanting more. The house is beautiful and the solar powered concept evokes awareness that nature is a luxurious experience. Michael is an exceptional host and takes the time to share recommendations that offer a stay in desert paradise. You need only bring groceries and cocktail makings as the kitchen is chef level stocked. We had plans of grandeur to take driving day trips but never left as we had our own private National Park to explore.

Where to even begin ... if you want tranquility, if you want a place where the wild calls your name and where everything inside of you will be calmed or where you will be forced to face what you've been running from, then this is the place you need to come to. It is a haven and an absolute sanctuary. I needed wildness. I craved total disconnect. I wanted a remote place where no one could find me. I found exactly what I was looking for here ... I want to give you details but doing so will give away the magic you need to experience for yourself. Go. Just go.
