I want to start my review by acknowledging that my host, Chuck, was relatively new at hosting an AirB&B and to also disclose that this was my first time using an AirB&B.
The location was perfect for my visit to Eugene, the bed and pillow were very comfortable (although I found the use of a ruffled pillow sham instead of a standard pillow case unusual). The bathroom was clean and directly next door to the bedroom we occupied. As posted we were able to have my brother stay over on the floor in his sleeping bag for the first night at no charge. Chuck was approachable and non-intrusive.
When we arrived I asked for space in the refrigerator (small OJ, container of cream cheese, 2 apples, and medication requiring refrigeration). Although I was told there was no room, I was able to place all but the apples on top of each other in the door space, next to the beer. We were provided a single key to enter the front door, but soon learned that the neighborhood is considered so safe that no one in the house locks the door, which we found to be true with each entrance. (I suppose that would be okay if you were not housing other people and their belongings.) The “dining” area was a card table and folding chairs. The “essentials” consisted of an extra bar of soap with a single stained bath towel per person. (Of course there was toilet paper.) Although the listing states “Breakfast”, when I asked Chuck about this offering and showed him his listing, he said that breakfast was not included. (Chuck did offer to run to the store to pick up muffins and juice, and one of the mornings his housemate did offer a breakfast plate as he prepared it for Chuck and himself.) As of today, this last date for posting a review, “Breakfast” remains on the listing. The temperature dipped into the low 30’s overnight and into the next day. We were told that the heat would be turned on, but this action was overlooked. Overall the house was clean with exception to the bedroom side table and lamp (dust and cobwebs) and the kitchen in general.
It has been suggested to me, for any future AirB&B use, that my next stay 1) includes a female host, 2) I am provided with the host’s phone number, and 3) that I confirm in advance exactly what the offering includes.
