Some info has been automatically translated.
A friendly old farmhouse built in 1926, that has been renovated. There are no animals anymore except Loppa the dog, but a horse rental is only a 2 minutes walk.
A peaceful surrounding with a crystal clear salmon river (a fishing license needed) right by the house.
Located in the countryside only a 3-4 minutes drive from Hólmavík village, which has an excellent geothermal pool, a supermarket, a couple of good restaurants and the interesting Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft

The space
A cozy room on the second floor. The bathroom is on the main floor, right by the stairs. The room has an excellent king-size bed, medium/hard, and a nice single bed, medium.
All bedrooms have big bright windows but also have shades in case you have problems sleeping in the midnight sun.
The whole place has just been renovated and is in top condition. However, it is an ongoing project.
Please note that the stairs are rather steep, so if you have a problem with stairs, see if room 21 is free.

Guest access
You can use the kitchen on the main floor for making small meals. Guests can share the refrigerator.

There is a washing maschine and dryer which can be used outside cleaning hours (not available 09:00-16:00) upon request.

We like to recycle as much as possible. We have 8 different clearly marked bins for waste plus the general waste. It’s our goal that nothing goes in the general waste!

Iceland has the best water in the world and we claim to have the best water in Iceland, right from the tap. Just try it if you don’t believe us and feel free to fill up your water bottles.

During your stay
I work in Hólmavík and can be reached by phone, text or email. I'm sometimes pretty busy, but I when I have time I would gladly help by pointing out interesting things to do.

Other things to note
Larger groups traveling together please note: We have two other rooms in the same house so we can accommodate up to 8 persons.

Where you’ll be

Hólmavík, Iceland

We are located near In the countryside close to Hólmavík village. A beautiful salmon river runs by the house, but a fishing license must be obtained.
We have great opportunities for hiking and a horse-rental is only 2-3 minutes walk from the house.

Hólmavík has two great restaurants and a hamburger stand, an excellent warm swimming pool and a hospital.
The unique Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft is a must-visit
and whale-watching tours go every day during the summer.

We are pretty centrally located for doing day-tours in different directions. We have several interesting places to visit. Reykhólar, a 40 min drive to the south, with its algae-baths, an exhibition of open boats and Either-down, which is used in the best duvets in the world.
Djúpavík, an hour's drive to the north, is a fascinating old herring factory with an amazing history. A little further north is Kört, a small but interesting museum of local handicrafts and a wonderful museum shop.
Bjarnarfjörður is only a half hours drive with a natural geothermal pools, one of them is from around 1200. The Sorcerer's hut is a turf house newly built to give an idea of how people lived right until the 20th century.

In late August, the berries are ripe. Taking a walk in our hills and picking berries is a fun experience.
