Cortijo Opazo, a restored farm house, offers two well furnished holiday apartments within a beautiful garden and surrounded by fabulous mountain scenery. Close to local villages and an ideal base from which to enjoy walking in the Sierra Nevada.
La Corona - spacious valley facing apartment provides accommodation for two people in one double bedroom with kitchen/diner and sitting room.
From the south facing verandah of Cortijo Opazo the entrance of La Corona leads into the open plan living accommodation. This is a spacious area with a three seater sofa, two arm chairs, a large dining table, four dining chairs, a well stocked bookcase and a log burning stove. There is a television that receives Spanish TV only, but can also be used to play CDs and DVDs.
Wi Fi is available free of charge.
The kitchen is fully equipped with fitted cupboards, full sized oven, a glass ceramic hob with four rings, overhead extractor fan and full sized fridge. Plates cutlery etc are provided for at least four people and there is an extensive range of cooking equipment. The kitchen is tiled with ceramics in traditional local designs, and is clean and modern.
From the kitchen there is a short connecting passage that leads to the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom is fully tiled with a sink, W.C. and walk-in 'wet room' style shower with an Oxygene power shower. Shelves, hooks, mirrors, towel rails and a wall cupboard are fitted.
Next to the bathroom is the bedroom with a double bed (200cms x 150cms) side cupboards with table lamps, a wardrobe and extra hanging space. This light and airy room has two windows facing east and south that look out onto the surrounding countryside.
La Corona is situated to the front of Cortijo Opazo and has a glorious south facing covered verandah (known locally as a tinao) with expansive views out over the valley of the Rio Trevelez and across the summit of La Corona to the mountains of the Contraviesa. To one side of the verandah there is an open patio for your exclusive use which enjoys sun all day long. Outdoor tables, chairs and sun-loungers allow guests to take full advantage of this splendid location. The private patio area leads on to the delightful communal garden where there is plenty of space for you to find your own secluded corner.
Throughout the accommodation the floors have been finished in warm terracotta ceramic tiles. There is an underfloor heating system in all areas, the use of which is included in the rental. During most of the year the days are warm enough for t-shirts and light clothing but since the area is mountainous the evenings and early mornings in the cooler months can be chilly and we have found the heating system invaluable. The log burning stove is provided as a cosy luxury and a quantity of logs will be supplied.
La Corona is ideal for two people. We can supply a portable bed for the sitting room which would be suitable for a child or a teenager. A cot and a high chair are also available.
The two holiday rentals are completely independent of each other and have separate entrances and private outdoor seating areas. In addition there is a large garden for all guests to share.

We have lived in the Alpujarras since 2003. When not looking after our guests we spend most of the time working in the garden, cultivating plants and vegetables, or walking in the mountains here with our two dogs. A simple existence perhaps, but we work hard and try to lead a relatively low impact lifestyle. We also enjoy spending time at the laid back coastal town of La Herradura, on the Costa Tropical coast of Granada.
