Darlene’s place is just perfect. Located in a quiet area but not too far from the restaurants and shops. Huge thanks for bicycles we were given, it’s saves a lot from using taxis you can easily reach the beach while having pleasant cycle. Darlene was responding very quick and we …

Lovely space with powerful aircon and a nice dip pool & balcony. Friendly and helpful downstairs neighbours. Great location for cycling to the beach! Only feedback is the bikes are a little dangerous as have back peddle breaks only and when the chain falls off (which happens quit…

Thank you for letting us know about the bikes. We just bought 6 new bikes and we are not switching the older bikes out for maintenance. I appreciate the feedback as I do not personally ride the bikes. I spoke to our helper Jose and he has it on his checklist to regularly take the bikes for a test run! :)

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment and would highly recommend it to any couple wishing to visit Tulum. Apart from the bicycles needing a little bit of work this place was truly perfect!

Thank you Sammy!! We loved hosting you both and we are delighted that you had such a great experience and appreciated our little hidden gem.. I agree on bike maintenance, even though we have 6, they are hard to keep up with during rainy season!! Luckily the rain has calmed down and we gave them all a tune up and got rid of the one squeaky wheel!! LOL

Darlene's place is cute, having the bikes completely changed the trip and made the beach and downtown very accessible, and we loved Tulum! Darlene had great recommendations for what to do, and while we had some small issues I think they would have been non-issues if we could have…

The place is adorable. I think it is a perfect distance from town and as long as you can handle the 20 minute bike ride to the beach, it should be ok. I am more of a beach-goer so this was a bit trying for me and likely wouldn't stay this far from the beach again, however, it was…

Response from Darlene:
Thank you Heather for your fair review. Yes bikes are a real hassle to include, we almost regret including them as they require regular up keep as the climate especially in the rainy season can be almost possible to stay ontop of. The ant problem you sent a video of was taken care of immediately with a cleaning lady that fumigated and went and did a full clean up. Unfortunately we discovered that your daughter had left a half eaten granola bar in her backpack which was near the bed, so once we discovered the source of food, we successfully avoided the problem from happening again! Teenagers are not always mindful of how open food in the tropics can quickly cal on an army of ants! LOL.. I have spoken to the cleaning lady to not use the pillow cases that were stained, but we don't mind bleach stains if they are minimal. Unfortunately your trip did not go as you planned as there was a major seaweed invasion in Tulum over the time you stayed and although my place is not on the beach, and there was a travel advisory warning people of the seaweed problem, you insisted that I give you a refund. I refunded 1/3 of your nights that you left Tulum heading for Holbox where there was no seaweed. I think after the first day on the beach, after the rain and seaweed, Tulum left a bad taste in your mouth so you were unable to see past that and as life is everything becomes a frustrating problem. I hope you were able to find peace of mind in Holbox with your friend and daughter!

Darlene's place was beautiful. She let us check in early to avoid getting drenched in the rain. She provided a list with all her recommendations. The hammock is so comfortable.

I moved to paradise 6 years ago because I fell in love with an artist living on the beach. I now make a living working at a yoga retreat / fitness center working as a yoga teacher and coordinator of large retreats. I also have a clothing line called Bohemian Lover and I am stil…
