Step straight on to beach from the garden - sunny deck looks out to sea. New in 2012 with - dbl glazing, insect screens, chiro bed, high pressure shower, good cellphone coverage. Wild native birds and penguins are your neighbours - yet house is close to pubs, cafes, convenience store, info centre. If you like the sound of the sea and the smell of salt you'll love this place.
Insect screened windows and doors! Enjoy the thatched Fijian shade hut with driftwood stools and bar leaners, and a chimnea fire/bbq. Cottage is not installed with wifi, but your cell data plan will work here. Other Internet options: via your cell data plan or visitor centre across road. Please note this is a self catering cottage - we provide guest essentials and tea, coffee, sugar and seasonings. All other supplies are BYO........convenience store two minutes away.
Beach, gorgeous relaxation garden, Charming Creek Walkway minutes away, beautiful river to play in three minutes walk up beach, great pub and cafe three minutes walk - other cafes etc closeby.
Interaction with guests
Whenever possible we try to meet and greet our guests, make sure they know how to use the tv system, cooking and toilet systems. We leave lots of info are andtips on local fun stuff to see and do. Mostly though we find that folk want and need their own privacy so unless invited we don't intrude. Additionally our visitor information centre is open daily and it's right across the road from the cottage.
Other things to note
Although this cottage does sleep 4, travellers should note that one of the two single beds is really a toddler/child bed. So the cottage is not ideal for four adults (two couples). Please be aware of this when you book so that you are not disappointed by your experience. Fine for three adults or couple with two kids.
Guests need to remember to bring insect repellent as most beach and river areas in the South Island in summer have sandflies ( a little like midges and no-seeums). That is why this cottage unlike most, is insect screened for your comfort.
No dogs or pets sorry to protect our little blue penguins and wild birds. This is a no smoking property inside....we do though allow considerate smokers to smoke over in the shade hut - with butts to be wrapped and placed in outside rubbish tin .

I am an ex broadcaster who's travelled the world and had lots of adventures. I love to share my wild paradise especially with folks who live in countries or cities crammed with people. We have so much space and freedom to enjoy along with spectacular walkways and cycle trails. I can't live without forest and beach walks daily, love all sorts of music, cooking and fires on the beach...ooh and I'm a dog lover with two beautiful shetland island sheepdows (miniature collies) who will give you the biggest welcome in the world.
