Just a 10 minutes' walk from Donington Park (Paddock entrance), The Barn is the perfect base for up to four people to stay comfortably. This one-bedroom (and double sofa bed), well-equipped self-contained barn conversion has full kitchen, dining area, shower room, TV/DVD, Wifi, wood burner and beautiful garden views, as well as parking. Fantastic village pub approx. 15 minutes walk away.

The space

Before being converted a few years ago, The Barn was a cart hovel for the main house, which we understand was the flour and water mill for Donington Manor in nearby Castle Donington.

The Barn is brilliantly located for events at Donington Park and it is just a 10 minutes' walk to the Paddock entrance.

The space is divided into a separate bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room (with electric shower and heated towel rail) as well as a wardrobe / storage cupboard. There is plenty of clothes storage and hanging space to make yourself at home and a comfy king-size bed. The curtains are also blackout lined to help you get a good night's sleep.

The living space is 'open plan', with the full kitchen in one corner. Facilities in the kitchen include kettle, toaster, four-ring ceramic hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge / freezer and there are glasses, plates etc. for at least six people.

Please note that there is no washing machine in The Barn, but we would be happy to offer access to this in the main house should you urgently need it.

There is seating for four people at the dining table alongside the kitchen and in the living area, there is a double sofa (sofa bed) and a separate arm chair and foot stool. There is a TV/DVD and Wifi, as well as a wood burning stove with enough logs supplied to keep you going for a couple of nights!

From every room in The Barn you'll get fantastic views of the garden where you should be able to spot lots of birds, maybe even the Kingfisher and Heron who love the pond. Whilst the pond is in the garden of the main house, please be aware of it if you're booking or staying with young children.

Whilst we are in the process of creating a much more private outside space for The Barn, there is an outside table and chair for guests. Additional outside seating can also be shared from the main house, if you require this.

Interaction with guests

The Barn is a self-contained space and you're free to come and go as you please during your stay. However, there is usually someone available in the main house or via mobile phone if you have any questions or queries while you're here.

Other things to note

At the moment the driveway for the main house runs past the front of The Barn. Work is taking place at the moment - and nearly finished - to move the driveway to ensure The Barn has private parking spaces and a separate garden area and outside space. Whilst traffic up and down the drive is minimal, especially in the evenings, please be aware of this on booking.

Beautiful Barn (comfy bed!), friendly host and great communication but the nose from the race course was excessive. We did stay over a race weekend (we didn't think to check first) but it made sitting outside and having dinner and/or having the windows/doors open unpractical. Would happily stay again but during the week only!

Third time lucky at Elizabeth's barn. This time made even more special by welcome home snuggles with Blue, the black lab, each day I got home. Everything was fabulous as usual - thank you!

Second stay at the lovely Barn. Spent a lovely two nights here whilst working nearby in Derby. Last night was greeted by two friendly faces as the dogs came to say hello and have a cuddle! Made my Tuesday evening :) The place was as great as last week - spacious, clean, comfy. Thank you!

Really calm and peaceful stay in the countryside. The barn has all the amenities that you need and it proved to be a really comfortable stay. The host was really responsive to questions and even let us lie in a little longer on our final day.

Wonderful stay in a lovely barn. Work up in Derby but live in Suffolk so spend a night or two a week in this area. Only stumbled across The Barn recently and booked in for a 2 night stay. I met Elizabeth at check-in who was friendly and welcoming, as was the lab! The Barn has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh milk was kindly left for me. The place was clean and tidy and decorated to a high standard. The open plan kitchen/living room is spacious and it is handy to have a full size fridge/freezer (there is a Tesco Extra ten min away). I cooked at The Barn both evenings and was pleased to find salt, pepper and ketchup waiting for me! The bed is large and comfortable and the shower clean. The Barn has glass windows all down one side but there are curtains you can close to make you feel cozy. The wifi connected to both my iPad and iPhone without a hitch and worked perfectly, as did the TV. There is parking for two cars outside and a small table and chairs for a glass of wine (which I sadly did not get a chance to use). The aeroplane noise is noticeable, and there were more flying over than I expected. However, it didn't stop me from sleeping and wasn't that audible when I was watching TV. If you were out and about enjoying the local area during the day it wouldn't bother you. I have already booked to stay again next week! Thank you Elizabeth :)

I was in the area for a training course and found it much more comfortable and relaxing than the local/airport hotels that my fellow trainees normally stay at. Directions were clear, and the accommodation is as described. Aircraft noise was muted in the evening as the planes were nearly all landing. It was noisier in the morning as they took off, but that didn't bother me as I had to be up early. If you're thinking of a hotel, choose this instead.
