This historic building, walking distance to the Marietta Square, dates back to the early 1900s and has been a grocery store, mechanic, and one-room hotel.
You'll be staying in the former one-room hotel (full circle!) in a renovated mini-suite.

The space
Welcome to the Watermelon Compound!
This building was built over a hundred years ago and has has physically grown as it became a mechanic, doll socks accessory store, grocery, one-room hotel, unregistered bar, and now a multi-space residence.
For those of you that saw "doll socks" and immediately thought HAUNTED, don't worry, that building is behind the one you'll be staying in and probably isn't haunted by barefoot porcelain dolls.

The suite has an exterior door entrance and is closed off from the rest of the building, keeping it completely private. Check out the photo descriptions for a mini-tour of the suite.

Please, no smoking allowed on property.

Guest access
With multiple spaces, we ask that guests be respectful of the other parts of the property, including the private garden areas, carriage house, and grocery store which is now a residence. This suite is separate from the rest of the house, with its own exterior entrance, but does share a wall with a space that occasionally occupied.

Other things to note
The Watermelon Compound is an ongoing renovation project. Your suite was one of the first parts to be updated, but don't be surprised it you see somebody on the roof working away!
There is a small senior dog occasionally on the property, but she will only be in the other residences and fenced-in back yard.
This part of Historic Marietta used to be the industrial part of town, with the Brumby rocking chair factory and marble and hosiery mills on either side of this street. The house was built before automobiles and is very close to the street, so please be mindful as you enter and exit. The train is also about a block away, so it can be heard, though not loud enough to rattle any windows. While the neighborhood is "off the beaten path" of downtown Marietta, it is still active with pedestrians, light traffic, and wildlife (so many birds!) so expect ambient noises of your average small in-town neighborhood.

Make sure to check out the Sessions Stand, a coffee joint and bakery right across the street! There is also a art studio next door and a yoga studio, Sacred Garden, two doors down. Marietta Square is about a half mile walk with sidewalks the whole way.

Either I or the other resident, Jesse, will be present at the property. I like to give guests their privacy, but am happy to answer questions about the area and give suggestions or where to eat and what to do.
