A stay at Casa Gentile is what Airbnb is all about; living like a local in a home from home. We picked the location for the panoramic views and were blown away by the breathtaking scene from the balcony. No trick photos here the view is really as fantastic as the photo suggests. Try and go out on the balcony at different times of the day to experience the changing light reflected on the sea and lovely surrounding buildings. The villa/appartment is large and tastefully decorated in a traditional Italian style, not as garish as some of the others we looked at. What the photos don't do justice to is the lovely approach to the large garden and terrace, which offered some shade and a space for some alfresco dining, also with some sea views. This is right by the entrance and can be viewed from the kitchen windows. Gerrano and family were very helpful but not intrusive, they checked we were ok and gave us a lift when we arrived and given wrong stop by the bus driver. Be prepared, if you don't have transport, there is a bit of a walk to get down to the main road. From here there are some great restaurants and bars and shops for general shopping as well as some other shops perfect for gifts. This is also where you get the local bus, which we recommend you get back uphill, and the Sita bus to get you to other destinations on the Amalfi coast. On our last day we used the steps down to the main street which was quicker than following the road down plus I think it would've been worth finding out more about local buses to have more transport options. Make sure you get a Sita bus timetable and one for local buses. We are glad we picked Praiano as a base. It wasn't as busy as the bigger towns such as Positano and Amalfi but had some of the best places to visit such as the beach and harbour plus some great rooftop bars and restaurants. It was also easy to get to Positano and Amalfi for a busier town experience. Take good walking shoes comfortable clothing and a bit of money and you'll have a wonderful time in the Amalfi coast. And stay at Casa Gentile for a great base.

The hosts were unbelievably friendly and helpful, down to providing eggs fresh from the hen. The apartment is spacious and comfortable and the views are unbelievable. Highly recommended.

Great location in Praiano. Fantastic communication with the host family right from arrival to day of departure. All in all, a lovely place to relax with all amenities one could possibly need. Thank you Ornella for your wonderful hospitality (please also thank your family) !!...We will be back hopefully next year.

This place was the best AirBnB we stayed in during our one month trip around Italy. It was very comfortable with quality furnishings and is maintained to a very high standard. To complete the enjoyable experience our host and her family were very generous with their time and we really appreciated the excellent advice and suggestions for exploring the region and nearby walking trails. We are very much into hiking and this place makes an excellent base for accessing the 'Path of the Gods' walk. It is also possible to combine several walks along the Amalfi coast and return to Praiano on foot, which eliminates the need to finish in Amalfi and queue for an hour (or more) to catch a bus back to Praiano. At the end of the day it was so nice to escape from the over-crowded tourist hotspots of the Amalfi coast (Positano and Amalfi in particular) and return to our peaceful haven nestled in a village like setting in Praiano. There is also a local bus network in Praiano that links up with Positano - a useful alternative to queueing up for the over-crowded Amalfi to Positano Sita Bus which sometimes doesn't stop because the bus is full (bus travel on the Amalfi is an experience you won't forget). The South facing property has superb views with sunrise and sunset thrown in so it's possible to take beautiful photos of Praiano and the Amalfi coast at any time of the day. From the balcony you can watch boats working their way up and down the Amalfi coast, check out village life in Praiano or take a photo of donkeys carting supplies to the shops as they pass under the balcony just after 7:00am. The apartment itself is huge with separate kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. The balcony is great for a drink while enjoying the spectacular view of the coast and there is also an outdoor terrace where you can relax in deck chairs or dine outdoors. Don't be put off by the 15 minute uphill walk from the main bus stop in Praiano to the elevated apartment - the effort is definitely worth it! Sent from my iPad

Today I truly feel there should be more than 5 stars to talk about Gennaro and Ornella's place. We instantly felt at home in this beautiful and comfortable flat with the most stunning view we had ever seen. Ornella's kindness was beyond any possible expectation and made us feel like we were staying at a friend's place. This place is a little piece of paradise, both quiet and full of life. Praiano was our favorite place on the Amalfi Coast. In a word, just go for it, this will be a travel experience you won't forget!

From checkin Gennaro and her lovely family made us feel so welcome at their beautiful house. The view, the town, their home grown tomatoes, and their hospitality - it was appreciated and we had a fantastic time were sad to leave! Even when there was a massive storm that halted our plans they worked to arrange a solution to get us to our next destination. very much appreciated. :)
