Hidden in a forest valley in the South of France, is our entirely secluded hamlet, Lorre. The Gite is a cottage dating from the early 1800's with the comfort of a modern kitchen and bathroom. The hamlet is set in 80 acres of private woodland and surrounded by nature; with a swimming pool overlooking the trees, a wood-fired spring fed hot tub, meandering forest and stream-side walks and incredible views. It is idyllic.

The space

We do have other accommodation space here, so we can accommodate larger or smaller groups. We have a larger house, listed as Lorre, La Maison D'Hotes and an extra en suite bedroom, the Pool Room, next to our pool, let us know if you'd like some extra space and we'll see what we can do.

Guest access

The Gite has a small private garden and a large raised, balcony veranda just off the bedroom (have a look at the photos, they're beautiful). There are other little gardens dotted around the hamlet, the swimming pool and the whole of the forest...

Other things to note

This is an eco-run hamlet where we live sustainably with nature. The kitchen is well equipped and has an electric hob, oven, kettle and toaster. Heating is via the wood burner - perfect for cosy evenings!

We stayed for a week in the Gite Rural at Lorry. The Gite itself is really lovely and it has everything you need. We loved sitting out on the secluded decking for breakfast. We spent the week walking in the national park, swimming in lakes and eating a truly obscene amount of croissants. Luisa and Piers are really lovely and were always helpful and accommodating. You can walk down a track into the nearest village, which has a fantastic art gallery dedicated to outsider art, a sculpture garden and a Belgian beer pub owned by a great Belgian couple. We loved all of these things! We went down to the bar on Friday and Saturday night and had a brilliant time with a very international mix of locals and visitors. I went with my sister and we would love to return again. It was the perfect place to relax. We hired a car from Toulouse, which took about 1 hr 45. It was important to have the rental car to get to the nearest supermarkets and bakeries (croissants!). The highlight of our visit was a trip to the Gorge de Colombieres - about 1 hr 30 away by car - but really worth the effort. It’s a series of beautiful uncrowded swimming pools and waterfalls down the mountainside - you can keep climbing up until you find your own private pool. I can't recommend Lorry enough!

We (2 adults, 2 children) had a beautiful week at Luisa. The house is great, the location and view is amazing. Luisa and Pierce are wonderfull hosts, very friendly and helpfull. It's very quiet which was just what we wanted. The swimming pool was a perfect cooldown and there are great walks around the house. Lacaune is a 10 minute drive, where you have a bigger supermarket, bakery's and butchers. In Saint Sever du Moustier is a nice café serving Belgian beer.

L'endroit est sublime. Très bucolique, entouré par la forêt et aménagé avec goût. C'est un endroit si reposant que nous avons passé une bonne partie de notre temps au gîte plutôt qu'à visiter les alentours.

London work-life escapee now living in Lorry with my partner, Piers, our (nearly) four year old daughter and our two Jack Russells. Together we run the hamlet. We have a venue with two holiday houses, a swimming pool, various beautiful terraces and garden spaces, a hot tub - all entirely secluded and in the middle of acres of forest! Also known as Wild Eco Retreats, Saint Sever Du Moustier.
