Private room in a heritage home. Attached with a western toilet, the room is spacious, clean and airy

The space

My place is a village home stay in a calm, quiet and serene setting. This is a 100 year old Jain ancestral home.We provide pure vegetarian food cooked with care and served with love. The cottage is located in a plantation with rotational plantations like ginger, tapioca, yam, etc along with pepper and coffee in a village called Kaniyambetta, 12 kilometers away from Kalpetta, the district head quarters. The property is just one kilometer off the main road from Kozhikode to Mananthavady. The same road is used as Kozhikode Bangalore main road during night time due to the night traffic ban in wildlife national park areas.

Guest access

All the common areas, corridor, walkways, paddy fields and plantation

Interaction with guests

I am living in the main house which is just close by and available as and when needed. There will be one of our family member available in the property to help you with your requirement throughout your stay. We assure you a pleasant and ever cherishable holiday here

Other things to note

Always carry a valid identity proof with you and present it when requested.

There are many places in Wayanad that can provide you a break from the maddening crowds and make you feel an oneness with the infinities of nature – its woods and animals. A ride in Wayanad will always help you encounter at least a wild elephant or deer, if not an Indian Gaur (Bison) or a tiger !!

Climate
The rainy seasons are the best time to visit Wayanad if you want to see the forests, hills and vegetation at their best. Imagine yourself warming up with a hot cup of brew, looking out at the rains and accompanying mists!! Alternatively the summer months of March-May are better suited for outdoor activities and wildlife safaris. Animal sightings tend to be better in summer owing to many animals migrating to the forests of Wayanad from other reserves, in search of better water resources and prey.

Fauna and Flora
Wayanad’s forests are rich in plant and animal diversity, and play a crucial role in the conservation of several rare species some of which include but not limited to the Lion tailed Macaque, the Royal Bengal Tiger and Elephants. People Even though Wayanad is the least populated district in Kerala, it has the highest tribal population. Some of the tribes still speak their own languages. The tribes are experts at extracting valuable forest resources, and their weapons, art forms and handicrafts are major attractions for tourists. Their ethnic food recipes, like dishes made from forest leaves, bamboo and paddy crabs, are some of the specialties here.

Vinoop User Profile

I'm Vinoop living in Kalpetta, Wayanad, the hilly district of God's own country, Kerala. Interested in hospitality and love to treat guests as our own family members. Got a concept about tourism during my studies and realised that my 115 years old Heritage home would be a suitable place for travellers.
I came back home and made suitable modification without causing a harm to the good old heritage structure.
