a lovely flat with old world charm, Spacious rooms except for the shower. But the location is great! Lorenzo is charming and very helpful. He recommended a restaurant that became our favorite during our stay. Overall if you can put up with the shower I give it a ten!

The apartment located in a quiet area while just a few minutes walk you can reach the central part of Florence including Uffizi Museum and Academic Gallery. It is spacious and cool. The host lives right next door and he is easy to communicate with and very helpful. Recommend!

Lorenzo was great. We arrived a bit later than expected due to an unintentional bus tour of greater Florence. He greeted us from a second-story window and helped us find the front door. He was very friendly and spoke good English. He gave us a quick rundown of the apartment layout, rules, appliances and even a restaurant recommendation. There is a small city tax, payable by cash upon arrival--2 euros per guest. Lorenzo was also very responsive to any questions or issues we had. We really appreciated that he was available to help if needed--and he lives next door! The apartment felt very safe. There are three securely locking doors between you and the street, one of which was made of heavy steel with three deadbolts - putting us in mind of a bank vault. The apartment is spacious (which is hard to come by in Italy in general) and well furnished with a full compliment of utensils, dishes and cookware. If you feel the urge to prepare your own meals, you’ll have no problems here. We made our own toast and coffee for our breakfasts, which we purchased from a nearby Conad supermarket. The bed can be used as a one queen-size or separated twin beds. We used the queen layout and the crack in the middle was hardly noticeable. The bathroom is home to the small clothes washing machine and a gas-heated drying rack. The drying rack works ONLY when the heat in the building is turned on--you cannot turn it on by yourself. If visiting during the warmer months, you’ll need to hang any wet laundry to dry either somewhere in the apartment or out on the clothes line right outside the window. While Lorenzo was a great host and the apartment is superb, there were a couple of things that bear mentioning. The apartment sometimes smelled like a gently used port-a-potty. It seemed there was some sort of sewage issue in the courtyard outside the apartment window. The building is obviously very old and we assumed there was an issue with the building that hadn't been fixed. This smell comes and goes and was not a deal breaker, but it was very unpleasant during the short periods of time it was around. Second, the stairwell leading from the apartment down to street level was usually unlit during the day and there are no windows to let natural light directly into that area. Maybe there was a light switch somewhere that we were not aware of, but the stairwell lights only came on at night. Basically, it's pitch black in the stairwell most of the time. Third, and this is minor, the light switches by the front door are arranged in an odd way. Some switches must be flipped up to turn the lights on, others must be flipped down. Not a serious issue, just funny. There are also a few (what look like) electric outlet panels in the apartment that are in fact just blank panels...

Lorenzo's home was perfect size for a couple. We loved having a full fridge and kitchen to use. We found that his apartment was safe and close to everything we needed. Florence is very walkable and this place is near some great things. The apartment was very quiet to the outside noise of the street, but you could sometimes hear people in other apartments. The temperature of the house was comfortable without opening the windows (this was in April) but we would have liked breeze. Unfortunately the windows lead to little courtyard that is shared by the neighbors, and for whatever reason it has a strong odor so there's no chance for a refreshing breeze. Lorenzo was very friendly and gave us great information about the neighborhood and directions. It was easy to communicate with him and we loved that he was part of our trip!
