The space

The bathroom, eating space, kitchenette, and wood stove are on the main floor and the sleeping area is upstairs in the open loft. The Loft has a spectacular view of the water. There is a queen bed and a narrower 26" wide daybed upstairs that work for a small adult or child, and a full-sized sleeper sofa on the main floor. There is space to sleep at the beach, on the bulkhead,in a tent in the summer if you have one to bring along ($20/person, including children, additional per night after two people). There are stairs to the south facing, Mt. Rainier view beach. Orcas sometimes visit, seals and otter pass by, and there are eagles perched in the trees most the time. The property is fairly remote, quiet and private, and the beach is lovely for walking and beach fires. Point Robinson Lighthouse/Park is a 7 minute walk along the road or beach.

If the loft is booked, consider the two other guest spaces on the 40 acre property: The Coach House at Wildwood (sleeps 4) and Wildwood Barn Studio (sleeps 2). They have separate private beach access for walking or relaxing on beach blanket. Click on the icons near Loft & Beach on the map to see photos, availability and pricing.

The Loft and bluff yard are available for celebrations of up to 65 people (weddings, reunions, family celebrations, birthdays, photo shoots, etc.) May - September 30. Inquire for availability and pricing. The adjoining property, Vashon Field and Pond, can accommodate groups up to 500 and has on-site parking.

PLEASE NOTE: Summer Saturdays are blocked on the calendar until April 30th for weddings and other events to book. After April 30th the calendar will be open for regular stays.

Guest access

The kitchenette consists of toaster oven, microwave, hot plate, crock pot and small refrigerator. There is a propane barbecue outside the loft, another propane bbq at the beach, and a fire pit with wood provided at the Loft and another on the beach (you can collect firewood on the beach).

Creekside Restaurant at the Vashon Island Golf & Country Club is 6 minutes away. Thai, Chinese, Mexican & American restaurants in the town of Vashon, 15 minutes away. Minglement (at the corner of Cemetery Rd. and Vashon Hwy), Burton Coffee Stand and Cafe Luna (1/2 block west of the 4 way stop in town) have espresso, muffins, etc. The Heron's Nest gallery in the town of Vashon has amazing local art, and there are several other galleries to enjoy, as well. The Chamber of Commerce, Vashon Allied Arts and Vashon Events are great resources for things to do during your visit to Vashon.

Firewood is provided for the wood stove. (There is electric heat as well).

Laundry service available at $10/load.

There is a barbecue outside the loft, one at the beach, and a fire pit at the beach, should the weather permit. Propane and firewood are included.

Interaction with guests

If there is ANYTHING we can do to make your stay more comfortable, or if you have any questions or need anything, please text or call or knock on the door any time.

We have a friendly dog, Saussi, who loves to have his back scratched. He will bark at you when you arrive. Feel free to tell him to "Go", "Sit", "Stay" or "Lie Down". He is usually with us, wherever we are. We also have free range bunnies, chickens and ducks that peck around in the garden. Our horses are next door and our fluffy, lazy cats lie about the yard surveying the territory.

If you are bringing a pet, please BE SURE it is LEASHED at all times, even if you have a tiny pup, to avoid disturbing massacres of free-range animals! If you are considering bringing a large dog, it must be completely controllable on a leash, and not able to bolt and pull the leash out of your hands to pursue fowl/cats/rabbits/people/horses.

Other things to note

Visit the Vashon Chamber of Commerce website for a listing of things to do on the island. There are art , garden, solar, farm tours, Strawberry Festival, wineries, Nashi Orchards and Dragon's Head Cideries, Seattle Distillery, bike trails, equestrian events, fishing, hiking trails, beach combing, picturesque Point Robinson Lighthouse tours, Island Center Forest or Dockton Park Trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking or jogging. Kyaks can be rented at Burton Beach, and the water there and at Dockton Park gets warm and is very swimmable in the summer. Horses can be boarded nearby, riding lessons or trail rides can be arranged and riding on the beach is wonderful. If you have your own kayaks, they can be launched at the beach from Pt. Robinson or Burton Beach.

Art Lessons (painting, photography, drawing, ceramics), trail rides, massage, facials and day spa services can be arranged - fees vary.

Check in is anytime after 3PM
Check out by 12PM (noon)

*Bring a pair of cozy slippers so you can leave your shoes just inside the door. Rubber boots or other outdoor-mud friendly footwear is a must during the wetter winter months.

* You are free to walk anywhere on the property EXCEPT in the field to the south of the big house and pond next door. You can walk back from the lighthouse and take trails from the first driveway with the chain across it on your right as you walk up the road, take a right on the trails through the forest that come out by the barn, and walk down the driveway to the right of the big house to the loft. You may also walk up the road from the beach if you'd prefer them to the stairs, but take a left at the top and walk back to the loft. The horse field next to the loft is fine for you to use.

*There is a small duck pond in the yard and a very large one next door. CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY PARENTS AT ALL TIMES when they are outside, especially those that don't yet swim. Horses on the neighboring properties are friendly, but have big teeth. Please do not approach them unless accompanied by Lisa.

* Please park to the left of the garage, up near the loft door. (Do not park anywhere in the area behind (west of) the garage doors.)

*Smoking outside only. Please don't leave butts in the yard! Put them in a jar of water outside the door of the loft. Please don't take extinguished butts into the loft as they leave smoke smell when in the trash inside.

*Septic system is fragile and VERY difficult to repair, so please don't flush anything that isn't designed to go in the septic tank: NO plastic, paper, hair, tampons, pads, diapers, etc. (The full damage deposit will be charged in the event a repair is required as a result of something in it that shouldn't be.)

*Pets with additional charge: please bring the $40 pet cleaning fee at the time of your arrival if it hasn't been paid with your Airbnb reservation. The upstairs floors are unfinished plank so they are not good with pet accidents... Dogs can be free at the beach, but MUST BE LEASHED IN THE YARD for the sake of the ducks, bunnies, cat, etc. in the yard. Dogs may not be left unattended in the Loft unless crated. If you are bringing a big strong dog, it is imperative that you can control it on a leash when it is "tempted" by the animals on the property: deer, raccoons, rabbits, fowl, other dogs, horses, llamas, etc.

*There is a propane barbecue available up by the loft for outdoor cooking, and picnic tables and a fire pit and another barbecue with a grill at the beach. Beach wood can be burned at the beach, but please collect wood from the beach and replace what you burn if you use wood that is next to the fire. (The planks piled up on the bulkhead are NOT firewood - they are for building furniture...) The beach is shared space, but if we are down there you are always welcome to join us or have your own fire at the other end of the bulkhead.
* Our house is about 40 feet away from the loft, so someone
is around most of the time. We are happy to do whatever we can to make your stay comfortable and memorable, so do text or call if there's anything you need.

* Check to see if there is a burn ban prior to lighting the wood stove.
If there is no wind for a few days, a burn ban is sometimes in effect (sometimes when it is foggy and still for a few days). The fine is $1,400 for violating Puget Sound's Air Quality authority! Yikes!

* Upon booking your stay with us through Airbnb, you assume all liability, risk and responsibility for any accidents or injuries to yourself or others in your party, regardless of cause, that may occur while you are on
our property. You, your guests and pets are visiting the property completely at your own risk and agree to hold property owners
harmless for any and all injuries and accidents that may occur, regardless of
cause or fault. Unmarked hazards, including
but not limited to slippery or uneven footing, rugged terrain, primitive stairs, un-fenced ponds, water, fires/fire pits, a potentially hot wood stove, a tall bulkhead, swings, trampoline, unpredictable animals (horses, dogs, chickens, ducks, etc.), exist.
By booking you agree to assume all liability, expenses and legal fees that may result from any incident(s) during your stay, including but not limited to property damage and bodily injury.

* The property is for the enjoyment of registered guests only. Please refrain from inviting additional guests to come for the day while you are staying at the property. A visitor or two are generally not a problem, but please check with us before inviting additional people to the property during your stay. Weddings, parties, reunions and other celebrations or events for additional people require extra insurance coverage.

* Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm - 9 am, which means loud voices and music need to disappear so they don't bother neighbors.

Enjoy Vashon!

We loved Lisa's place. The cottage was delightful and the view and the grounds overlooking the Puget Sound were stunning.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the loft. We were greeted by Lisa and Saucy (dog) the moment we arrived. Lisa gave us a brief tour then took us to pick apples and see the horses. The loft was fantastical and dreamy. We had fun following the chickens around, walking on the beach and chilling at the loft. We would definitely be coming back !!

Lisa made check in and check out easy as she is very organized. Our beautiful view from our living room made it hard to want to fall asleep at night and our daughter loved seeing all the ducks, chickens, and roosters walk out into the yard in the morning. The walk down to the beach is steep (like Lisa mentioned) but doable AND so glad we did! Beautiful area to look for seashells and our daughter loved throwing rocks in the water. Our place felt very beachy, light and airy from all the decor. The place felt VERY clean is which is important to us. We really couldn't ask more from our short 2 days there. Would come back ANY TIME!

What a gem. Spectacular views and accommodations with a great host. Kayaked, fished, saw orca whales, and experienced amazing views from hammocks perched above the cliff side. Need I say more?
