Mountaintop privacy, yet only 5 miles to town. At nearly 4,000 Ft elevation, take advantage of the comfort, serenity and breathtaking views of this private, peaceful mountain cabin. Enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, biking, golf, etc. Mild summer temps, the Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby, and Asheville is less than an hour away.

The space

This 2,600 square foot cabin is cozy enough for 2, but spacious enough to accommodate larger groups. In addition to the two bedroom main floor, there is a fully finished basement that has a bunk room, full bathroom, pool table, and lower deck access. The washer/dryer is also in the basement. The master loft on the top floor is huge, so in addition to the king sized bed and private bath, there are 2 twin beds for small kids, extra guests, etc. You also wake up to a beautiful mountain view from the master bed.

The main living room has a TV, and the basement does too. Each TV is equipped with a Roku Stick for streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, and even MLB.TV during baseball season. The cabin does not have central A/C, but there is a through the wall unit in the living room if it gets really muggy. I generally leave the windows open (with screens) 24/7 during the summer. While a heat wave can never be ruled out, daytime temperatures typically average 75-80 during the hottest months, and it cools down nicely at night.

In the cooler months, the Buck Stove keeps it nice and toasty inside. There are also built in wall heaters (gas and electric) throughout the cabin.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire cabin. We also use the cabin throughout the year, so please be respectful of our personal belongings.

The following essentials will be provided:
*Bed linens and towels
*Paper Towels
*Toilet Paper
*Trash Bags
*Coffee Maker and Filters
*Hand Soaps
*Shower Soap
*Dish Soap
*Laundry Detergent
*Charcoal for the grill

Also feel free to use any of the spices, sugar, creamers, coffee beans etc. that are generally stocked in the fully equipped kitchen.

Other things to note

Downtown Burnsville is 5 miles from the cabin. It's a neat little area to explore. You'll find a few good eating spots, a brew pub, shops and a farmers market on Saturdays. There are also a couple grocery stores, drugstores, fast food places and a Starbucks in Burnsville.

Mount Mitchell State Park is nearby, and there you will find some of the best hiking and waterfalls in the area. Whether you want to tackle the Mount Mitchell Summit trail, or just take a leisurely walk in the woods, you'll find plenty to do. There is also a 4-Star golf course in the park.

The cabin is really in a great central location for exploring so much that Western NC has to offer. Grandfather Mountain, Asheville, Linville Gorge, Roan Mountain, Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, Tubing, White Water Rafting, Zip Lining, and so much more is all within an hour's drive.

Kemp's place is a great place to stay if you're looking for a cabin in Western NC. Killer views off the deck and ping pong in the basement! We have a BGE (smoker) at home and were blown away to have one on vacation. The cabin was great close to downtown Burnsville which has everything you need. Would love to stay at Kemp's cabin again!

We booked this Home for a low-key getaway for my wife's birthday in the mountains, and it was an absolutely perfect location. 5 Stars all around! Kemp was a gracious host, making check-in and out a breeze. Nestled in the side of the mountains, with spectacular views, we thoroughly enjoyed our time sitting on the huge deck and taking in the fresh air and scenery. Of course, the outdoor bar seating and Big Green Egg was utilized for delicious BBQs. The home was very clean with a true cabin interior design, well-equipped with everything you'd need to cook and host a large group, and it was full of natural light. The ping pong and pool table were also a great added benefit, and although we only had 4, we could have easily had a group of 10 - the house was that spacious. Burnsville is about a 15 minute drive and there's a large, new Ingles Supermarket just out on the main road for any food you'd need for the stay. It's a quaint town, with a historic center that has a Brewery, Cafe and some Restaurants. It was a great home base to explore Roaring Fork Falls (40 minutes away) and the peak of Mt Mitchell (1 hour 20 minutes away). Overall, an amazing stay and we will book Kemp's place next time we're back in the mountains of NC.

View was amazing. We had such a lovely time with our 3 kids ages 6 and 7. Our friends met us there with their 3 kids also. Plenty of room for 2 families... we went to Mount Mitchell, Emerald Village and a couple of hikes. Our favorite thing was Roaring Fork Falls, an understated magical place. We picnicked on a giant flat rock in the river and swam there. Our kids cried when we left!

Kemp and his cabin are fantastic! The cabin: Fully stocked with all the necessities of home. STUNNING sunrise view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Pool table and ping pong have their own room downstairs. Nice location to access Mt Mitchell, Asheville, Linville, etc. Kemp (host): Kemp's communication through the whole process was awesome. He sent detailed instructions for the whole experience. Checked in with us and made it very clear I could call or text with any questions. This was our first Airbnb experience but it won't be our last if all the hosts are as great as Kemp.

Would stay here again. My family loved it. It is a great central location. And we enjoyed the town too.

I relocated to Wilmington, NC 10 years ago after a 9 year stint on the West Coast, split between Seattle and San Francisco. This mountain cabin helps me decompress and enjoy the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I love the outdoors, morning coffee, charcoal grilling, craft beer, exploring new and familiar places, our dogs, movies, financial markets, live music, my beautiful soulmate (Jill), and my two awesome kids.
