The space

This simply stunning waterside holiday home is located at the head of a pretty tidal creek that flows into the Dart Estuary in South Devon. Guests can relax on the balcony overlooking the water and watch the swans drift by or launch their kayaks nearby and paddle down Bow Creek, passing the local waterside pub to join the main river. This meanders upstream to the delightfully Bohemian market town of Totnes and downstream to Dittisham, the yachting haven of Dartmouth and the sea. Recently totally redeveloped The Old Bakehouse offers unrivalled 5 Star accommodation, with a comfortable lounge and dining room, both equipped with woodburner stoves, a most impressive modern kitchen and 5 comfortable bedrooms; all en suite, which includes a huge master bedroom featuring attractive exposed beams. Centrally located in the beautiful South Hams guests have easy access to the many beaches, country walks, stunning coastline, pretty Devon villages and Dartmoor National Park.

Balcony furnished with table and chairs running half the width of house, overlooking the water and accessed from the utility and window from lounge.

The garden is situated across the lane with grassy area safe for children to play with stunning views of creek and wildlife, Small seating area with picnic table and laundry line.

PARKING
for one medium sized car in front of property and for another car beside the property, between it and the adjacent barn. Additional lane parking generally available close to property.

Included: Bed linen, towels, WiFi, electricity, central heating (oil underfloor heating and woodburner stoves) and complimentary baskets of logs in appropriate season.

The Old Bakehouse does not fit a simple category. It's secluded yet you are a mere hundred yards to and expertly pulled Guinness at the Malsters Arms. The Old Bakehouse sits on the water and then it doesn't. The tides change the setting while creating a diverse scene right before your very eyes. It's a quiet out of the way place accessed by narrow lanes. Steady as you go, for sure.

Brilliant home for an inter-generational family holiday. Everyone had their own bathrooms, there was a huge master bedroom and the kitchen was well equipped. A very practically designed house in a truly lovely setting. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant stay, communication was very good and the problem of no high chair, as asked for, was very quickly resolved. Very well equipped kitchen (and utility room) with high end appliances, plenty of crockery etc, and a nice touch was a few basics for our arrival. Very comfortable bedrooms with efficient en suite facilities. The lighting is quite fun to work out, but works well. Beautiful situation overlooking a creek with a couple of pubs nearby. All in all an excellent stay and I would recommend and would return.

The house is just great. It offers all the modern comfort with wifi, Netflix/Amazon within an old country house. The refurb was top quality. The neighbors are great people, Pubs within walking distance and the kids enjoyed feeding the swans and ducks at hide tide and the adults the drinks on the balcony. Gary was very responsive and helped when needed. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it for summer as well as winter breaks!
