About this listing
Welcome to "Casa da Maria", your little home in a paradise out of time and space! The house is located in the cliffs near Cabo Espichel (Serra da Azoia), in a protected National Park, 15 min away from Sesimbra and 45 min away from Lisbon.
"Casa da Maria" is a traditional house that used to belong to Maria, the old famous baker of our small village. Maria used to bake bread all week in a stone-oven and nowadays the bread of Azoia became famous! Back in the day, life was quite simple here... Maria would bake bread, take care of her donkey and spend time among her beloved flowers. Now you have the chance to spend an amazing holiday at this same place, where it all started, right by the ocean!
The nature around is absolutely amazing... at each turn you can find a different climbing spot, a new cave, or a secret beach with dolphins jumping on the horizon. The paths are flanked by colourful wild flowers and the seagulls will accompany you along the way. If you love nature and peace, this is the place to be. You can go surfing, climbing, hiking, kayaking, cave exploring, biking, etc etc. The calmness and safety of the area makes it an ideal place for children to play and explore the nature outside, for adults to relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the sunset, and even for pets to run around free.
"Casa da Maria" is a cozy, simple, little home. All the furniture was upcycled by us, which means all the pieces are unique and have a special touch. We made everything with great care and love for you! This house is designed as a retreat place for guests to connect with nature and themselves, so it is not a luxury house. You must enjoy simplicity to feel comfy here :)
Big Room - the big room has view to the backyard and has 2 beds: one king-size bed and a single bed, so three people can sleep comfortably!
Small Room - the small room has view to the front garden and has a double bed. A soft curtain separates it from the hall.
The living room has a super-comfy couch and a table to share delicious meals and great moments.
The kitchen is equipped with stove, oven, fridge and everything you need to prepare delicious meals.
The bathroom is spacious and has a nice bathtub and a washing machine.
In "Casa da Maria" there is Wifi and hot water, but no microwave and no TV, as we believe they are not very good for our health.
The neighbours have some chickens, goats and sheep, so it is possible to get some local biological eggs and cheese, if you would like.
