The space
Stagshead Lodge lies in the beautiful Northumberland countryside with views over the Fontburn Reservoir. This pair of contemporary lodges, oozing with character and charm have been restored from the former ’Goats on the Roof’ café. Guests enjoy beautiful views over Fontburn Reservoir and the open countryside enhanced by their raised position. The lodges are set in 170 acres of unspoilt, rolling Northumbrian countryside, on a working farm with views of the Simonside Hills and reservoir, in a mix of meadows, pastures and woodland. The views from the raised decked areas are beautiful with quirky children’s furniture and plenty of space for adult dining. A tranquil and peaceful holiday base from which to explore the stunning countryside. Guests are welcome to visit the animals on the farm (seasonal). Wonderful walks and cycling can be taken right from the front door. Whether you head up the Northumbrian Heritage Coast or across Rothbury and off towards the Cheviots, you won’t be short of places to visit. Fontburn Reservoir has first class fishing (charges apply) making this a popular location for beginners, as well as keen anglers. A lodge shop provides tackle, bait and even ice-creams and refreshments, making a nice family spot for picnics. A great location for travelling this friendly and unspoilt county, peppered with castles, historic sites and miles of golden sandy beaches, as well as being a central location for exploring Rothbury, Morpeth, the coast or inland.
