Khao Ra Bungalows is nestled in the luscious foothills of Khao Ra, Ko Pha Ngan's highest mountain, with spectacular view towards the ocean. If you'd like to book for more than 2 people, please see my profile to see the other 7 bungalows. Our place is also famous for its Thai food (check the reviews!). Although only open in peak season.

FOR FULL MOON PARTY GOERS: Our place is located within 15-25 mins by car to Haad Riin Beach where the party is. Definitely not that close to the party noise.

The space

Our place is located in the center of the island. It takes 10-15 minutes to the closest beach/shop/restaurant, and 15-25 minutes to the Full Moon Party in Haad Rin.

We have 5 big bungalows and 3 smaller bungalows. In each bungalow, there's a queen size bed, therefore it can only be occupied by 2 people max. Ensuite bathroom for each bungalow. It has some space between one and another bungalow, so you wouldn’t hear people talking from the other bungalow. Our bungalow is also located in the middle of jungle, so it’s not close to the main road, and there’s no other accommodation around. Each bungalow has fan, mosquito net and hammock on te balcony! And as I said, IT'S IN THE JUNGLE, so expect bugs and its noises as well!

Pick up from Thong Sala (please wait at 7-11) cost 200 Baht per person. If you’re coming from Ko Samui and arrived in Haad Rin Pier, the pick up cost is 400 Baht per person. For drop off and pick up service to and from Full Moon Party in Haad Rin in 600 Baht round way.

Once you arrive on the island, you can find many motorbike rent. It usually cost you 200 Baht per day. This is the most recommended way to get to us, and the best way to explore Ko Phangan (taxi can be really expensive). To rent a car is not really common, therefore it’s quite difficult to find a place that rents a car. Pee Mee (the owner of Khao Ra) can also arrange motorbike rent once you arrive here.

Please arrive the earliest at 2 PM, and check out the latest at 10 AM. This because many times we will need to prepare your room for the next guest.

Our restaurant usually only open during Peak Season (December - April). The price of the food ranged from 70 - 200 Baht. You can read fro our review on how good Pee Mee (the owner of Khao Ra)’s cooking is!

We do not have full time masseuses, but we can always arrange it for you. The price will be depends on the kind of massage that you want.

We do not offer daily yoga class. If you thought that we offer yoga class because there's a photo of yoga on our profile, it’s because that's a documentation for a yoga retreat that is held here in the past. Our place can be rented for a yoga retreat, as the multi-function hall that can be used as yoga shala.

Each bungalow in Khao Ra can be occupied by max 2 person. Which means if you are a 3 people group, you will need to book 2 bungalows.

We do not have locker/safe. But our place is pretty safe, we never have problem with lost item, as long as you always lock your room. Our place is located in the jungle, where we have no other accommodation next to us.

Since we’re located around the middle of the island, to go to various beaches would take around 10-15 minutes.

Ko Samui airport is the closest one. But there is also Surat Thani airport which is in the main land and has airasia flight (cheaper option). From Ko Samui, you would just need to take ferry/speedboat to Ko Phangan (Thong Sala Pier is the closest to Khao Ra), and if you’re coming from Surat Thani, you can get bus-boat ticket from a travel agent at the airport ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)ht).

Direction will be sent once you make a reservation.

Not really.

AirBnb system will automatically calculate the special discount for long term rate.

The speed of course will varies to every people. Average time will be around 3 hours.

Food isn't included on the price (no free breakfast!)

Thong Sala (where the pier is), is only 10 minutes ride by motorbike, and that's where you can get all of that.

The apartment is in the middle of the island, hard to find but just follow the signs khao ra and you will get there. I really liked the view and the apartment was clean. The contact person at location is somebody else which was confusing, because when we got there, nobody was present. The owner was really friendly thought. The price is alright is for the place. Kind regards, Marc

We really enjoyed our stay in one of these charming bungalows amidst a quiet secluded setting. Our host was laid back & friendly. Overall it was a great retreat from the madness of a peak season full moon party. However, potential guests should be prepared for cold showers (which are pretty refreshing in the high temperatures), bumpy roads & a long and uncomfortable ride to the full moon party.

Honestly, this was my first disappointing experience with Airbnb. Due to some changes in travel plans, I was hoping to change my reservation with Zeea from 3 nights to 2 nights. My request was denied, due to a peak season 2 night minimum. I told Zeea that I would try to make it for the full 3 nights. I was able to arrange things to arrive on time, I gave Zeea 8 hours notice that I was on my way and I wrote her again 4 hours before arriving with an arrival time. I did not hear back from her. Upon arriving, I was at the base of the huts and unsure where to go. I walked to a house nearby where I saw people to help me call Zeea. The locals informed me that this was not a Thailand phone number and they wouldn't be able to dial this number. Zeea left instructions to speak with PeeMee (property manager) in case of emergency. PeeMee didn't answer the phone. My mother and I walked to the top of the hut area and ran into a man that appeared to work there. He did not speak very much English and seemed to be confused to see us. He finally understood that we expected to stay there, so he cleaned a hut for us (hut #3, not the hut I reserved with Zeea). The accommodation was accurate to the description online, aside from the fact that we had to ask for a fan and toilet paper (the hut description included a fan). The restaurant on site was supposed to be open during peak season, according to the description on Airbnb. Late October is generally considered tourism season in Thailand and I was under the impression that Khao Ra huts definitely considered this to be peak season since they wouldn't allow me to shorten my stay. However, the restaurant was closed because "it is not peak season". We met PeeMee the following day, she was very friendly and helpful. She informed me that Zeea no longer lives in the country. She also informed me that Zeea told her I would only be there for the 2 nights (although I paid for 3 nights, told Zeea I would try to make it for the full stay, and informed her that I was coming for the full stay 8 hours prior). Zeea did not contact me until the day before I was due to check out, basically informing me at this point that she doesn't live in Thailand and hoping I figured everything out. The huts are accurate to the description, a great getaway in the foothills. The area and the island are absolutely delightful. I was pleasantly surprised that this island was not overrun with crowds. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, after the rocky check-in process. However, I use Airbnb because I appreciate the hospitality and sense of community it provides between the hosts and guests. This was unfortunately a disappointing host experience.

It was funny, when we arrived there was nobody except one guest. Nobody knew that we booked, but we just got room no.1. The place is an extraordinary place that you have to find first, it was not that easy as not everybody seems to know it so well. It's hidden in the jungle. But the view and atmosphere is magical. You should be a little bit adventurous and open minded if you want to stay here :)
