"Definitely one of the top places we have stayed in with Airbnb." FH May 2018.

A character two bedroom terraced holiday cottage that can accommodate up to four people in the heart of Ventnor, Isle Of Wight. Just minutes from the local beach and amenities the house is an ideal base from which to explore the whole island.

The house is a classic two up two down Victorian cottage built in the 1860s and sits in a charming terrace set back from the road which ensures peace and quiet.

The space
The house was fully renovated in 2016 and is a now a well equipped home ideal for the family holiday.

The house can accommodate a family of four or five as long as the fifth is a child. The main bedroom is equipped with a king size bed and a travel cot (please bring your own bedding for this). The rear bedroom has full size single bunk beds suitable for either adults or children plus a fold out bed. Although the folding bed is a full size single it's really more suited for a little one (the listing describes this as a sofa bed as a folding bed is not an descriptive option). If you wish to use the folding bed please let us know so we can arrange extra bedding for you.

The main family bathroom is on the ground floor. The bath is full size with a fantastic thermostatic overhead shower which has a second diverter head also. A second toilet is on the first floor adjacent to the bedrooms.

There is WiFi for your use and a house tablet pre-loaded with apps and information to help you enjoy your stay. The TV is fitted with Chromecast enabling you to use your favourite streaming service. A wireless speaker is also fitted with Chromecast so you can stream music or radio from your device.

For cyclists there is a wall anchor fitted at the rear of the house to secure your bicycles of an evening.

Ventnor is hilly, very hilly in places and this is not always suitable for people with limited mobility. The house is access up a fairly steep alleyway with a step. It is a charming old cottage in a lovely and quiet set back location but unfortunately we do not consider the access or the house suitable for wheelchair users.

Ventnor beach is five minutes walk from the house. The town centre shops are about three minutes walk and the nearest car park is just two minutes from the front door (see below for more details about parking).

Please note that for a fifth person there is an extra charge of £5 as extra linen has to be provided.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house which really is a home from home.

We have left some items that may save you having to bring your own:
Two camping chairs
Boules
Crabbing Lines
Buckets
Beach tent/shelter
Cool box with ice blocks
Travel cot (you will need to bring bedclothes)
High chair
Stair gates
Books and games for both children and adults
Child friendly cups and plates

Other things to note
Bookings during the summer period will start on a Saturday. Please ask if you have specific date requirements.

There is very limited free parking in the town and indeed across much of the island. The nearest car park is two minutes walk from the front door in Pound Lane. There is a free car park five minutes walk away in Wheelers Bay. Parking charges can be found at iwight.com/visitors/parking-and-travel .. Whole island tourist permits can be bought which allow parking across all island car parks and controlled street parking. These can be bought through the Pay By Phone app and start with two days parking through to 14 days parking.

Isle of Wight, England, United Kingdom

Ventnor is a Victorian seaside town situated on the southern side of the Isle of Wight, right in the heart of the famed Undercliff, much of which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Sheltered from the north by the national trust owned St Boniface Downs, Ventnor benefits from its own micro climate. This climate provides an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna, many species of which are only found in Mediterranean countries.

Visitors to Ventnor will find a great variety of established local shops, restaurants and public houses. All provide a friendly service both to their local community and its visitors. Many serve local freshly caught fish and locally brewed ales. The town is currently undergoing a revival with exciting developments including its harbour and off-shore deep sea moorings and a range of new accommodation, restaurants and retail outlets.

To the east of the parish of Ventnor lies the village of Bonchurch renowned for its literary connections. Writers and poets such as Dickens, Stackpole and Swinburn all resided here for a time.

To the west lies St.Lawrence nestling in the Undercliff. Here there are many miles of coastal walks, bays and places of interest to explore.

Ventnor beach and Esplanade is just five minutes walk from the house.

I live in East Sussex and work on the River Thames in London spending as much time as I can on the Island. After holidaying on the Isle Of Wight for many years we decided to make a more permanent base for the family and bought Brewers Rest in January 2016. We don't like to see empty properties so we make the house available when we are not using it for other people to enjoy as much as we do.
