My cute boyfriend and I booked this place 2-3hrs before turning up at the door as we could not find accommodation in the city. Talk about being adventurous eh? Anyway, the host was efficient in replying and speaks sufficient English to accommodate you and even chat over some beers.
Despite it being so last minute, we were pleasantly surprised by the views along the way, and the hospitality of the host and his mother.
OH and if you love shiba inus (more famously known as 'doge's in the meme world), they have EIGHT of them cuties for you to walk and have fun with. I got to rub the tummies of enough shiba inus to last my lifetime and I must say the dogs were the best surprise in this booking (aside from the beautiful views of vast hills and plains).
The stay is really good for value too. You get to sleep on tatami as well so yay for a more authentic Japanese experience.
P.s. while you can't see the milky way at night, you can still see plenty of stars if the weather cooperates.
Even though the place is sort of accessible by public transport, it is best if you rent a car and drive in because there isn't anything nearby but trees and fields.
Bugs at night are aplenty. My partner and I forgot and we opened the windows and the place was quickly swarmed with bugs around the lights in our room. Bring along a mosquito coil if you want to play it safe or simply request it from the host.
The water takes quite a while to heat up so do set aside more time for your showers.
