Juniper Cottage is not a typical holiday let. It is a privately owned, stylishly appointed, deceptively spacious cottage set in a quiet courtyard in the pretty village of Over Haddon, one of the most picturesque villages in the Peak District. Just 5 minutes from Bakewell; a great base for friends or families for exploring the Peak District and all that this glorious region has to offer with access to some of the most beautiful countryside in Derbyshire, including marvellous walks.

The space
The cottage can sleep up to 4 people and consists of
• Ground floor master bedroom with king size bed, hotel quality duvet and pillows, crisp white cotton bed linen and fluffy towels. A walk in wardrobe, and newly fitted modern en-suite with walk in shower.
• Two single first floor bedrooms each with their own staircase (limited headroom in places in these rooms)
• Ground floor newly fitted modern family bathroom.
• Well equipped kitchen with everything the discerning guest could need including Nespresso coffee maker, Dualit toaster etc and enjoy a hamper of locally sourced treats on your arrival with our compliments.
• The sitting room is beautifully furnished with stylish and comfortable sofas and chairs to sink into, plus occasional furniture, desk and a dining area. This magnificent room has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and an electric woodburner-style stove, a lovely large social space to relax in, watch tv, a Bluetooth speaker for your music, read, catch up on emails (if you must!) or simply enjoy dinner with family and friends.
• Fast free reliable WiFi
• Outside, there is garden furniture on a planted and paved terrace overlooking the delightful courtyard.
• Private off road parking for 1 car - ample road parking if needed for a second car.
• Juniper Cottage, a deceptively spacious, beautiful barn conversion, in its pretty, village setting within a wonderful area of the Peak District, makes a fabulous holiday home, all year round.
• Our check in and check out times are 3pm and 10am. However we can often be flexible on these times even if we have incoming/outgoing guests on the same days so always check with me a couple of days before your arrival if it helps to arrive a little earlier or check out later.

About the location

OVER HADDON

The village of Over Haddon (situated just two miles from Bakewell) in the Peak District National Park. A little gem of a village, it offers a scattering of stone cottages, an excellent country pub, along with being a magnet for walkers looking to explore the beautiful Lathkill Dale. Over Haddon is one of the many Derbyshire villages to “bless the wells” in the traditional wells dressing celebrations in June every year – this is something very different to enjoy in this wonderful area.
Just two miles away is the delightful town of Bakewell, which is famous for its Bakewell Pudding and retains a delightful rural atmosphere offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as frequent local farmers’ markets. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, as is Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, just a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. Over Haddon is an ideal base for exploring the whole of the Peak District.

Mum of 2 grown up children, Grandy to the adorable Henry and George and married to John for 39 years. I absolutely love living in the Peak District, walking and playing tennis. I love family holidays, eating out and travelling near and far to visit new places. I'm passionate about interior design, enjoy visiting galleries, historical houses and gardens. Having Chatsworth House on my doorstep is amazing and I never tire of going there.
