The Mad House was built to support all eight of us as kids, with an occasional friend in tow, as we came up to go skiing at Mad River Glen. As such, the house was built to comfort and accommodate large numbers, and their varied needs! An adorable house available through summer and fall, The Mad House offers easy access to the Mad River Valley, all three ski areas, The Round Barn and countless other attractions throughout the Waitsfield/Warren area, further north, and the Northwest Kingdom!

The space

The large living/dining area provides room and amenities for all sorts of pastimes, and is characterized by a full ceiling height stone fireplace on one end, and a full ceiling height glass wall window, looking straight up the valley towards Mad River Glen on the other. The kitchen is open to the dining and living areas, with easy access to both, and is modern and fully equipped. The master bedroom and matching guest bedroom and master bath, including a full bathtub and shower are upstairs, and two separate bunk rooms are downstairs, each with separate bathrooms and showers. The house also has four built in couches that can be used as additional beds if needed.

We had such a great time at Frank's place. Great location for us, as we were visiting Norwich University for parents wknd. The Mad House met all our needs, just wished the weather was cooler so we could have used the fireplace!! Our kids 18, 15 and 10 had plenty of space to play and relax. We cant wait to go back!!

Easy to access and would see it as a great location for a family stay for a local wedding or family reunion. All our needs were met and it was a very pleasant stay.

Response from Frank:
Sara and Eric were a delight as quests, and they treated and left my house in a very neat and noble way.... And I am delighted to add that they even had their dog, Jackson with them, and Jackson left the house as clean and clear as they did! I would recommend this family of three to anyone, and would welcome them back to my house any day....!

I have lived for most of my life in Providence, and then in Bristol, RI, and was brought up learning how to sail on Narragansett Bay, and how to ski at Mad River Glen, in Vermont! I served proudly in the Hawk Missile System in the US Army, and lived for four years in Aspen, Colorado, before coming home to Bristol. I have always kept our dear ski house up in Vermont, which my dad lovingly named The Mad House, and love to visit between our home here, on the water in Bristol, and our wonderful little ski house up in Vermont....!
