Some info has been automatically translated.
Foulis Castle is close to Evanton which is near the ancient burgh of Dingwall. Foulis Castle is a 15 min walk away from the Storehouse Restaurant & Farm shop (Mon-Sat 9-5pm), which is situated on the shore/beach of the Cromarty Firth.. You’ll love my place because of privacy of having your own country retreat within beautifully landscaped gardens. My place is great for couples or families.

The space
The Bakehouse is located on the North/East wall of the Foulis Castle Courtyard and is a Private Luxury Self Catered home away from home in the Scottish Highlands. It is a tranquil, quiet sanctuary to rebalance mind, body and soul. The Bakehouse's front door opens onto the Foulis Castle Courtyard & private drive/parking and overlooks the Foulis Castle Arboretum, beautifully landscaped gardens & ponds. The kitchen area over looks the Castle Courtyard and has all modern facilities with a table seating x 8. The Bakehouse has a 42" flat screen TV with Sky. It has underfloor central heating which is provided by a biomass heating system, so the apartment is warm throughout. The Bakehouse has beautiful traditional flagstone floors throughout it's lower levels. Foulis Castle has guided tours which are held on Saturday at 3.30pm, booking is essential and can be made prior to tour through Ohma. The Bakehouse has Starlink WiFi which is really reliable.

Guest access
Guests have unlimited access to the landscaped gardens surrounding Foulis Castle. Feel free to walk amongst mature broad-leafed hardwood tree alley's and a walled arboretum where they can pick fruit in the summer. Guests are welcome to walk around the landscaped ponds and venture down to the near-by Foulis Burn which follows the original Castle drive all the way to the shores of the Cromarty Firth. Foulis Castle is set in a central location within Foulis Estate (2650 acres) which is surrounded by arable fields which grow Malting Barley for Whisky production. Behind Foulis Castle is the Hill of Foulis which has managed woodlands with beautiful views all the way up the Cromarty Firth. Within the managed woodlands are forestry tracks which lead to spectacular views of Ben Wyvis one of Scotland's great Munro's.

Other things to note
The Bakehouse is great if you are interested in outdoor pursuits there are a variety of sporting estates close by, offering horse riding, golf, walks, mountain bike trails, stalking, fishing and driven game. During the summer months the Distilleries and local Castle/gardens are very popular.

Neighbourhood highlights

Dingwall formerly served as the county town of the county of Ross and Cromarty, it lies near the head of the Cromarty Firth. In the early Middle Ages Dingwall was reputed to have the largest castle north of Stirling. King Macbeth from Shakespeare's Macbeth was born in Dingwall c1005. There are very good golf course's, lovely beaches, walks and other country pursuits.

Guests are free to enjoy and walk on the 2650 acre Foulis Estate, with its native wildlife, and the property is ideally situated to take advantage of the surrounding attractions. For stalking Deer Foulis Estates, golf lovers the small town of Dornoch and its Championship Golf Course is within an hours drive, for whisky lovers there are many Distilleries in the locality to visit, Dalmore at Invergordon or Glenmorangie at Tain, to name just two. For shoppers the small towns of Dornoch, Dingwall and Strathpeffer, with it’s historic pavilion are always worth a visit. For walkers why not take a walk up to the Fyrish Monument, reputedly an imitation of the gates of Negapataum in India. The views from the top are quite amazing, with views of the Cromarty Firth, Ben Wyvis, the Affric, and on a clear day further afield to the Cairngorms.

Hi, my name is Emma Watson. I live in the Scottish Highlands with my family, I love travelling and cooking. I started using Airbnb 6 years ago to rent a flat in Venice and found that my experience was an around success. I started renting my accommodation in the Scottish Highlands 18 months ago and have been really happy with the guests and their feedback. The aim for me is quite simple, offering clean, warm, comfortable accommodation. I'd be happy to recommend places to visit, the best place for any outdoor pursuits and where to eat out with your friends and loved-ones. I'll do all I can to make your stay comfortable, personalised and very special. I look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover the Scottish Highlands. Cheers, Emma
