LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION!The Cottage attached to our WATERFRONT home,'Spindrift',sits directly on the rocky coast of Cape Elizabeth,Maine. If you are looking for the quintessential coastal Maine abode ,with the sounds of crashing surf, and scent of salt air, this listing is for you!Walk a few steps from the Cottage door onto the Adirondack chairs, where the Atlantic ocean awaits you.Walk down our seawall stairs to the tide's edge.No matter the season,Spindrift and Maine, the way life should be...

The space

What makes this listing truly unique is its striking proximity to the ocean's edge. In fact, when we bought our home over 20 years ago, we named it "Spindrift" to honor its very location-SPINDRIFT means sea spray! Though the Cottage is part of our home, you have your own private parking space, private entrances, a sunroom which includes tables, chairs, a small refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, eating utensils and a moderately sized bedroom with chairs, table, and modern bathroom.

Guest access

The cottage consists of your private entrances into both the sunroom, and bedroom. There sunroom has 2 entrances/exits: one overlooking the driveway and the other on the ocean front. The bedroom has, in addition, its own outside door. You may enter the bedroom from the sunroom or from its own outside door. The bedroom may be locked. You are welcome to spend your time at the ocean's edge sitting in the Adirondacks, swinging in the nearby hammock, or enjoying our yard. .

Interaction with guests

The owner will welcome you upon your arrival to give you the 'lay of the land', review the sunroom and bedroom set up, and provide information about nearby beaches and restaurants. We will always be eager to share any information about the Cape Elizabeth and Portland area.

Other things to note

Spindrift is perfectly located for a quintessential Maine trip. The Lobster Shack Restaurant is steps away down Two Lights Road where patrons come from around the world to relish Maine's best lobster rolls. Also at the end of Two Lights Road is a small pebble beach where we enjoy a swim. In the other direction up Two Lights Road you'll find the beautiful Two Lights State Park with walking trails and Crescent Beach State Park and its crescent sandy beach. For an evening out, the city of Portland is just six miles away with countless exquisite restaurants. Ask us for recommendations!

If you decide to stay at Spindrift you may find yourselves spending most of the day simply watching the Atlantic and the hard working Maine lobstermen haul their traps. You never know what will motor, sail, or swim by (yes, we have seen whales breaching off our rocks!). You're forewarned...the view is mesmorizing

Better setting than any of the fancy beach resorts and much more privacy. Just amazing and Martha is the best host ever!

If you are looking for the perfect Maine getaway – this is it. The Spindrift is beyond delightful and everything I hoped it would be and more. Cape Elizabeth is incredibly charming, so you are surrounded by beauty on your drive to Martha’s. With the ocean steps away you can delight in the sound and view of crashing waves during your stay. There are many wonderful places to visit nearby, but you are surrounded by splendor at the Spindrift and could be more than content relishing what is right at your footsteps. The Lobster Shack restaurant is a house over, so it is easy to enjoy some delicious local lobster within minutes. The house is clean, comfortable, and allows you to really relax. Martha is an amazing host who makes your stay even more pleasant with her incredible hospitality and thoughtfulness. She has included all these small touches that make you feel like you are in your own private B&B and she checked-in with me to make sure I had everything I needed during my stay. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Martha is a true Superhost and her Cottage Spindrift is simply a dream come true if you want to have the true Maine beach house experience. The location is mindblowing and very rare. The cottage breathes good energy, has a lovely interior and is the perfect place to unplug. We want to come back... Martha provides everything needed for the perfect stay, from bathroom supplies to fresh fruit and bagels in the morning.

Well....the secret is out, Spindrift is open for business. My sister and I happened upon Martha's gem when looking for a place to stay for a spontaneous trip to Maine. The pictures do not do Spindrift justice nor do the reviews. Spindrift cottage is a dream. Within walking distance to a great restaurant, prime seats for sunrise, whale and seal watching and a view of the Atlantic that goes for miles our stay was a memorable experience in itself. Watching the sunrise was by far one of the most amazing things I have seen and will forever remember. Martha is not lying when you can hear the waves rumble while you sleep, the waves sounded just like my white noise app wave setting. Martha's hospitality is unmatched. You truly feel welcomed and part of her family. There is a fridge stocked with amazing goodies and beverages. A bottle of chilled wine awaited us when we arrived and in the morning fresh donuts and croissants. Chocolates were also left for us by bedside. I would definitely stay again and want to come back to even just hang out with Martha! My sister and I are even talking about making Spindrift a yearly tradition. You will not be disappointed.

The pleasure of hosting your dynamic foursome was all mine!! And, my guests today, having been told of the Atlantic 'sunrise viewing' you all experienced, have set their alarm! I think you all have started a Spindrift tradition!

This is our first time posting a review for Airbnb. We’ve typically had good experiences, but our stay with Martha was an exceptional one. Location: One of the most beautifully scenic locations, the home overlooks the ocean … the most serene experience that you can imagine. Even if you’re relaxing indoors, you can hear the ocean and birds chirping while enjoying the comfortable accommodations. But, we recommend enjoying every minute possible out in the backyard on the hammock or lawn chairs! The town: Perfect location … just minutes away from downtown Portland, where you can enjoy some of the most amazing food in the northeast. Excellent foodie destination! You are also super close to Crescent beach … one of the better beaches in the area. Activities: Sunset cruises, lobster catching, bike riding, kayaking, paddle boarding, beach lounging …. All of this is easy to schedule and enjoy in Portland or in nearby Crescent beach. The host: Martha is the most lovely person we’ve encountered in our travels. She greeted us with open arms (both literally and figuratively) and made us feel at home every step of the way. She has definitely thought of everything to make her guests stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible; and if you find anything else that you might need, not to worry, she will very quickly address that too. For example, when I realized I had forgotten my hairdryer she went out and bought one !! In the mornings, we woke up to fresh bagels and donuts from a local bakery, which Martha woke up super early and left them waiting for us in the breakfast nook! She has also fully stocked the mini-kitchen area with snacks and drinks to last our entire weekend stay … picture waking up every morning to fresh breakfast on the patio, with birds singing and the waves crashing and if you’re an early riser you can catch the sunrise from the Atlantic, as you sip your coffee… it was magical!
